Challenger Panel Breakers

I have a challenger panel, home was built in 1996.

Electrician replaced breakers with Siemens but isnt Eaton the correct compatible one? There are only two eaton ones in there.

Should I replace them witn Eatons? I am seeing conflicting info online and he insists its fine.

Electrician placed a 40 amp breaker on 10 gauge wire

Hello, I hired a licensed professional electrician to install a tesla wall charger. They also replaced some old breakers.

A day later I noticed he upgraded a 30 amp oven breaker to a 40 amp and asked him if current wires can handle that and he said yes they are 8 gauge.

Well today I opened the panel and checked and its actually a 10 gauge wire. We never had the oven trip at 30 amps in 10 years.

I asked him to come back and place a 30 amp back. He was defensive at first and insisted it was fine and said he would need gas money to come back.

Anyway he came back and looked at the wire and said yes it could be a 10 gauge after all. He placed a 30 amp back in there. He didn’t charge me anything.

This is a very bad mistake by someone who is licensed, is that something that happens sometimes? I really lost trust in the work even with a year warranty.

I hire licensed professionals to rely on thier expertise. I am glad I was able to spot it.

Would it be wise to never hire his services again? Just looking for constructive feedback for my own sanity. Thanks.

Wire gauge size on 40amp breaker

Hello, I had an electrician come by and change out some breakers on my panel. I did notice that he switched a 30amp oven breaker to a 40 amp. I asked him if current wires can handle that he said yes they are 8 gauge size.

I cant tell by looking but is that 10 or 8 gauge? House was built in 1996.

Thanks!

$1,500 to install Tesla Wall Charger and 11 new breakers

Hello. I recently had some work done that I feel I paid more for than I should have.

I am in LA county, I had a tesla wall charger installed on a 60 amp breaker, they also swapped out 11 older breakers that showed signs of charring a bit so all breakers in panel are now newer. Panel is fine.

The total was $1,500. Is that reasonable? I generally do a lot of DIY work at the house like plumbing and such but when it comes to doing work on a panel I dont feel comfortable with live electrical.

$1,200 to replace 10 breakers in SoCal

Hello I am in SoCal and was quoted $1,200 to replace mostly all old challenger breakers in panel. About 10. Its a 200 amp panel. Breakers are 30 years old and some showed some damage. They stated the challenger ones are no good.

Is that reasonable? I dont like working on panel myself even though I am good at most DIY projects.

Model 3 Low Coolant Alert in Service Mode

I have a 2019 Model 3 RWD SR + with 60,000 miles. I was checking service mode for first time and noticed a low coolant alert. This alert does not show up outside of service mode.

I removed the frunk liner and checked the coolant bottle and it seems to be below NOM but still over half full. No sign of any leaks from what I can see.

Should I take this in or wait for actual user error? Can I top it off in meantime? Would tesla address this if no front end error for driver?

Thanks!

Get a wall connector or stay with mobile charger and outlet

Hello, for the past 7 years I have been using the mobile charger with a nema 14-50 outlet. I have a model 3 and a model y. Its been working fine , occasionally will get high temp alerts in summer when garage gets very hot.

Is getting the wall connector a better long term option?
