Uncomfortable Sleep with Ortho-K
Hi everyone, I‘ve only recently started using Ortho-K lenses about a month ago. I‘ve gone to all of my check-ups and, according to my optometrist, everything looks great and my eyes adjusted incredibly fast.
I knew going into this that Ortho-K lenses aren’t really as comfortable as regular daily or monthly contact lenses. So it wasn’t really a surprise when the first night was quite uncomfortable. My eyes seemed to adjust a little after that and the first week went by fine.
However, since then I keep having really bad nights where I can’t sleep. I keep my eyes closed but the lenses are so uncomfortable, especially when I feel myself drifting off to sleep and having involuntary eye movements, that I can’t seem to sleep for more than an hour at a time. More often than not I get up after two hours and try to clean them and put them in again, just to see if that helps at all. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t.
What could cause this uncomfortableness and sometimes even pain? According to the optometrist everything looks as it should. I don’t have dry eyes and the lenses fit perfectly. I’m seriously considering quitting because I can’t continue barely sleeping only to forego using my glasses.
Thank you in advance!
