You first need to obtain your raw data export from Couchsurfing.

Step 1: Export Your Data from Couchsurfing

Before you can use any converter, you need the official "Data Export" package from Couchsurfing.

1. Log in to your Couchsurfing account on a web browser.
2. Go to Settings (click your profile icon in the top right).
3. Select the Privacy or Account tab.
4. Look for "Request Data" or "Export Data".
5. Wait for the Email: Couchsurfing will process the request (this can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours).
6. Download the ZIP: You will receive a link to download a .zip file containing your photos and a data.json file.

Step 2: Using Couchspinner

Couchspinner is an open-source tool that parses that data.json file. You should be alos be able to use a generic "JSON to CSV" online converter if you just want your references in a spreadsheet.

1. Unzip the file you downloaded from Couchsurfing.
2. Locate the JSON: Find the file usually named export.json or user_data.json.
3. Upload to Couchspinner: Drag and drop that JSON file into the Couchspinner interface.
4. View & Convert: The tool will format your profile info, references, and messages into a readable layout. From there, you can usually:
   • Ypload to a fileshare - Link the text to your profile in platforms (liker BeWelcome).
   • Print to PDF to keep a permanent, readable record of your travel history.
