Which of these Starfleet roles is genuinely the "hardest" job on the ship?

Last month, we asked what the easiest job in Starfleet was, and the results were pretty clear.

This month, we’ve flipped the script. Let’s face it, every role has its own challenges, after all space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence. But which role actually has the most difficult day to day?

  • Do Captains feel the weight of countless lives and the Prime Directive every single time they open their mouth?
  • As an Engineer, are you constantly forced to perform miracles to keep the ship in one piece?
  • Is the job of a First Officer the worst? Dealing with tedious complaints, keeping everything running smoothly and playing devil’s advocate in every situation?
  • Does the Helmsman really have it easy? Steering a multi-million metric-ton starship at speeds so fast you’ve flown through something before you’ve ever seen it?
  • Is being a Medical Officer a constant battle to whip up cures to never before encountered plagues in minutes while somehow keeping the crew positive?
  • Are Operations stressed beyond belief trying to manage the logistics of a starship in deep space?
  • Do Science Officers have to know everything about everything all the time?
  • Is Security/Tactical a nightmare when you’re constantly on edge and worrying about everyone else’s survival?

Which of the listed roles do you think has the hardest job? Tell us: Why your pick? Which specific Starfleet character had the hardest time with their role?

Bye bye 4.7

4.7 was good to me.

Here's my hard-earned Starlancer Max sailing off into the sunset. I adore this ship. It very quickly became my daily driver for almost everything I did.

I used to hate Misc, but I was the biggest Drake fan. However, this ship turned that around so much that I even brought a Hull B. Perhaps one day, when I can justify the extra expense, my hangar will have a Max in it too.

What species would you like to play next?

We love our characters, and we love the diversity that is on offer in our Intelligent Lifeform Index, so today's question: if you had to make a new character today, what would you pick? If you're an old hand at this or finding us just for the first time, I'm curious to know what people are taken by.

We've all seen the speedruns, but at the same time, a number of Scientology accounts have popped up on TikTok run by Scientologists.

I've seen accounts from both the UK and the US show up on my feed explaining what Scientology is. Either they all elected to capitalise on the trend at once, or they created the trend themselves to influence social media algorithms.
