Are hitters underestimated?

Watching some of these hitters make contact on some wicked pitches, I feel like the general population doesn’t appreciate how hard it actually is.

It’s always an interesting battle between what the pitcher plans on doing and whether the hitters can make contact. I’m in awe at some of the pitches they are able to get hits off of!

Talons

Does anyone know what unconditional release waivers means? Ellis and Coleman were reinstated from the injured list and then this was there for Maddie Moore but it’s the first time that I heard that statement

leaving base early

OK, I know a runner is not allowed to leave the base early(before the ball leaves the pitcher's hand), but who is supposed to call this?? The umpire or opposing coach? AND how is it decided, before the review rule went into effect?? IF it is the umpire's responsibility, why do they not call it before the opposing coach?? NOW the teams have to challenge any thing the umpires miss, BUT can only do it 2 times each game. WHY don't the umpires do their job if there is a rule against it?? I might mention that I was an umpire for several years, but not professionally. I'm 83 now, so most of these rules came AFTER I was calling games. IF it is a rule, it is the upire's job to make the call, not the coaches'!

Autographs at Games?

Hi! Going to our first game tomorrow at Chicago. Do both teams typically sign autographs? Are they before or after the game?

Also, does anyone know if they have merch for both home and away teams for sale?

My daughter idolizes Sam Landry and really wants a t shirt and an autograph.

Thanks!

Going to the game in Chicago tomorrow and have a question

I’m a UW fan and watched a lot of games with my dad. I’m bringing him for a late Father’s Day gift and we’d love to meet and maybe get a pic or autograph with Sis Bates. We loved watching her during her Huskies days. I heard Landry signs autographs but does Sis? Would before or after the game be best?

Thank you in advance!

AMA Announcement: Sam Fischer the Senior Manager for Softball Operations on r/AUSL Friday, July 3rd at 5pm ET

r/AUSL is thrilled to present a chance to ask the Senior Manager for the Softball Operations at the AUSL, Sam Fischer, your questions live Friday July 3rd at 5pm ET!

Sam Fischer is the Senior Manager of Softball Operations for the AUSL. She competed in all eight AU Pro Softball seasons and closed her AU Pro Softball career as one of seven players to appear in 100 or more games between AUX and Championship Season play. She finished with a .333 career batting average, while her 86 combined hits rank eighth on the league’s all-time career chart. Prior to Athletes Unlimited, she competed for Team USA, the Akron Racers, Scrap Yard Fastpitch, and in the Japanese Professional League for the Toda Medics.

A four-year letter winner at Loyola Marymount from 2009-12, Fischer was the first player in program history to earn First-Team All-Pacific Coast Softball Conference recognition four times while claiming a spot on the NFCA All-America Second Team during her senior season after leading NCAA Division I with a .492 batting average. Inducted into the Loyola Marymount Sports Hall of Fame in 2019, Fischer also entered the West Coast Conference’s Hall of Honor in March 2023 and had her No. 52 jersey retired by Loyola Marymount.

Sam should have a really unique birds-eye view of the league and be able to provide insight into where the league is and where it is going. She's also personally paved the way for what this league represents with her own athletic career. Definitely don't miss this opportunity and mark your calendars.

Bright side for the Volts

Well the bright side for the Volts is that, if we stay in last place, that means we get the #1 draft pick next year, which should most likely mean we get Teagan Kavan. So I’m kind of okay with throwing the rest of this season away if it means we get Kavan😅😅

Stupid rant: Can we stop calling players Rookies? It’s not really relevant.

During the Volts/Cascade game yesterday it was brought up constantly about so and so being a Rookie, like it’s any indicator of a players skill or composure considering everyone is new to the league. You can’t in good conscience call a 2nd year player an AUSL veteran.

We get it, the league is new, everyone’s figuring things out in real time, no need to pretend there’s a vast disparity between skills and players based on a 4 team league a year ago, they all kick ass.
