Muted Swallow A Eureka Actual Play series of narrative, intrigue, mystery, and possibly lesbianism.

Sally Jeong is dead. According to police, she took her own life. Open-and-closed. According to her friends and family, that doesn’t make sense, but what can they do about it?

A mysterious woman appears on the doorstep of Sally’s long-time friends, Emily and Maddison, after they contact her through a friend of a friend. She’s willing to take the case, seemingly free of charge.

Unbeknownst to any of them, another young woman has appeared in town, one the enigmatic detective has a long history with.

What follows is a meticulous investigation into Sally’s death, played out using the Eureka system. Also they kiss.

Muted Swallow eschews massive production value and scripting in favor of the authentic, sincere experience of just listening to a few friends actually play a TTRPG. The deduction is real, the dice rolls have consequence, and there is no guarantee that our protagonists will even be able to solve the case. (It does however feature original music.)

New episodes release on alternating Mondays at 10:45 AM CST. At the time of writing this, 14 episodes have already released and are available as a playlist.

About Eureka

Eureka is an original 2d6 system with a primary focus on real investigation of “fair play” mysteries, which also supports in-depth characterization and ‘slice-of-life’ elements through its character building and “Composure” system. Investigators aren’t just mystery-solving automatons, they’ll behave like real people with emotions, wants, and needs just by following the rules of the game. The full rulebook and everything you yourself need to play can be downloaded at anim-ttrpg.itch.io

How do you like your audio mixing?

I've been stalking over on some podcasting subreddits and forums and it seems like a not insignificant number of listeners prefer it when the speakers are in "different places" in the stereo audio mix. Supposedly, it gives the feeling of actually being in the room, listening to the conversation

But that is almost exclusively talking about the classic "interview style" podcast. How do you feel about it in AP podcasts?

Checking to see if this style of actual play exists.

Does anyone know of a channel where the DM has a video of their prep and then a video of their session?

Also looking for an actual play that feels like the story is led by the players. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed that last few actual play campaigns I’ve listened to (The Adventure Zone, CR season 1, Legends of Avantras season 1) but would love something more raw and that feels less scripted and more like what would happen at a home game.

I’m a brand new DM that is 14 sessions into my first ever campaign and would love to see some actual good home games.

Looking for feedback on my Dungeon World actual play — Hyperion Presents: The End Games

Hey guys

I’ve just released the first two episodes of my new actual-play podcast, Hyperion Presents: The End Games, and I’m looking for some honest feedback from people who actually know and play Dungeon World.

The campaign starts with a group of ordinary fantasy tavern workers who win their workplace lottery.

Unfortunately, the prize isn't money.

They've won a place in a televised dungeon-crawling competition run by a ridiculously powerful interplanetary corporation.

The show is intended to be a mixture of Dungeon World, fantasy workplace comedy, corporate satire, sci-fi/fantasy and a televised death game.

I'm particularly interested in feedback on the actual play rather than just whether you like the setting.

I'm deliberately asking for constructive criticism. If something isn't working, I'd much rather hear it now while I'm still early enough in the project to change it.

The campaign is designed to start fairly comedic and gradually introduce more serious stakes, while keeping the corporate/game-show satire running throughout.

If anyone has the time to listen to either episode or even just part of one I'd genuinely appreciate your thoughts.

And if you hate it, please remember that your feedback has been carefully recorded and will be included in your personnel file.

Hyperion Leisure Industries thanks you for your valuable contribution.

Glass Cannon Looping?

I decided to give Glass Cannon a listen, starting with the Pendragon character creation session. I notice it frequently loops so that I’m hearing the same dialogue twice again and again.

At first I thought it was an editing error but it keeps happening. Are all their episodes like this?

When listening to actual plays, what campaign structure do you actually like?

Personally i love the idea of a long term story, but looking at my own podcast feed, those huge 100-episode backlogs always feel a little daunting to start. At the same time, super short mini series sometimes end right when I’m getting attached to the characters.

What do y'all prefer?

Where to find someone to animate clips?

I produce the System Hoppers podcast and have been looking into trying to get someone to animate clips for our socials (As they seem to be the best way to hook new listeners andjust an idea I wanted to try) but had absolutely no idea where to find animators or people to look into this. I wanted to check if others had success in this area or if it had worked for them?

(I also say this because I often see clips online from bigger shows - but wanted to check if they were being commissioned or if they were just fan animations or something or the sort!)

Best way to get more plays!

I run a Mörk Borg Actual Play Podcast, Flail to the Face, and im wondering how to generate more plays. We are in our second season, and the play count isn't where I personally like to see it. We have over 700 followers on Spotify, on all the podcast platforms, have a YouTube channel, and all the social media sites. I may be biased, but I think we have a strong, engaging, rp heavy show full of ambiance and sound effects, but the plays aren't there. Any advice/tips/tricks on how to get to that next level?
