Diverse Protagonists and TG Love Interests, Part One
Every Thursday for three weeks, I’ll be sharing fics with a lead who is a POC and/or queer and paired with at least one TG character. Not every fic here is going to be your cup of tea, and that’s okay! I just want POC and queer fans to be able to see themselves in fanfic.
Anyway, this week we have:
- 18 Aemond x female OC/reader fics (he’s very popular)
- Three Aegon x female OC/reader fics
- One Criston x male OC/reader fic
- One Alicent x male OC/reader fic
- One Daeron x female OC/reader fic
- One Alys x female OC/reader fic
Original characters
*Aemond
[La Dance Macabre](https://archiveofourown.org/works/61422115) Laenor x Rhaenyra’s daughter OC; rated E
Valaena Velaryon the eldest child and true born daughter of Rhaenyra and Laenor. Her and her mother could never connect, for Valaena was not as chaotic as her mother. And when her mother tells her her right to the throne and gives it to her brother instead their bond is particularly broken. She has only one person to truly lean on, her uncle Aemond, and he knows just as her that they were made by the gods for each other, and that they were made to rule.
[The girl with the evil eye](https://archiveofourown.org/works/53098726) Ditto; rated M
She was named Lucia Aragón once.
Lucia.
And she was born in the place of a Strong Boy meant to die. She was born in the place of the spark, the kindling and flint that began the rage of Fire across Westeros.
She is the first note to the Dance.
Or, well, she’s supposed to be. But the girl born to the Realm’s Delight had one, single thought about that:
That in her second life, Princess Lucerae Velaryon will take a note from her surname, and RUN.
[The heiress](https://archiveofourown.org/series/5768871) Ditto; rated E
Hidden from the court and the world, Seraphina Vaelryon grows up in Dorne, a hidden child of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Ser Laenor Velaryon. Sent away under the lie of a rare "dragon scale deformity," she is raised in isolation-except by her father and the Dornish royal family, who love her as their own. A prodigy in battle, diplomacy, and leadership, Seraphina earns the fierce loyalty of Dorne's people, becoming their beloved little princess, truly adored where her mother's name "The Realms Delight" rings hollow in the hearts of many, noble and commoner alike.
[When Fire Meets Quiet Waters](https://archiveofourown.org/works/66757894/chapters/172257148) Ditto; rated M
Princess Aemma Velaryon, the only trueborn daughter of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon, is bound by fire and sea.
As a child, she shared a quiet bond with Prince Aemond Targaryen—until the night he lost his eye at Driftmark by her brother’s hand, shattering their connection.
Years later, with the realm on the brink of war, Aemma returns to court—loyal to her mother’s claim, but yearning for peace.
When fate reunites her with Aemond, now a man scarred in body and soul, buried feelings resurface: dangerous, forbidden, and unresolved.
Caught between duty and desire, Aemma walks a fragile line, knowing one wrong step could cost her everything.
Born to mend what war would break, she seeks peace—but if she must, she will choose fire… even if it burns her.
[The woes of betrothal](https://archiveofourown.org/works/48811087) Rated M
Recently betrothed, Prince Aemond is unsure of the virtues befitting that of a good husband. Ser Criston offers some surprisingly useful insight.
[Darkly, delicately](https://archiveofourown.org/works/53311381) Not rated
All her life Meynara has struggled to belong. Captured and taken to a land far away she's made her place in the world of Westeros with allies she can count on one hand. With the siege of Duskendale by the army of King Aegon II, she finds herself facing odds that change the course of her life once again, weaving her fate to the tune of the dragon in a dance hidden through time, as the war between the blacks and the greens rages on.
[Finding common cause](https://archiveofourown.org/works/45877168) Not rated
A little white lie on Helaena’s part lands both Aemond and Myrah in situation they can’t get out of
[See how it shines](https://archiveofourown.org/works/53730874) Velaryon OC; rated E
"all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter."
fate is a curious thing. viserra velaryon and aemond targaryen treat theirs as casually as flipping a coin, until they realize what it means to be born to burn together.
[Dancing in the flames](https://archiveofourown.gay/works/42970095) Daemon x Laena’s daughter OC; rated E
What if Daemon and Laena had another daughter in Pentos and what if she was just as wild, wilful, and impetuous as her father?
[Burning Coles](https://archiveofourown.org/works/44283786/chapters/111364090) Criston x Rhaenyra’s daughter OC; rated M
She named you Valaena and dressed you in blue, but it could not be hidden. You were not the daughter of Ser Laenor Velaryon.
The Dornish Daughter of Princess Rhaenyra. You had no place in court. Neither did your bastard Strong brothers. And yet, you were protected. And yet, one eye always followed you. The sins of the mother and the father become your crown and your scepter.
[The Kingmaker’s Sister](https://archiveofourown.org/works/47052187/chapters/118539994) Criston’s sister OC; rated M
Ser Crison Cole had but one sister, Lady Katriel Cole.
[A Charming Match](https://archiveofourown.org/works/42781746/chapters/107471079) Martell OC; OC is also physically disabled; rated E
Aemond did not wish to be unkind in his assessment of the lady before him but even with an impartial eye it was difficult to find anything redeeming in the appearance of his bride. He suspected she was severely ailing and pondered how many years his marriage may last. It was clear to Aemond that Qoren was foisting an invalid cripple upon him to test his and his family’s desperation for the Martell’s resources. Begrudgingly, he accepted that a cripple like her was a charming match for a deformed beast like him.
[Firestorm](https://archiveofourown.org/works/43066230/chapters/108219438a) Martell OC; rated M
“Lady Indira.”
His greeting is more of a growl.
A rather frosty reception but that was to be expected. Aemond's animosity towards the Dornish girl was no secret. It radiated off of him like a red heat threatening to burn anyone who dared get too close.
He cursed her every breath and scorned her very existence.
But most of all he loathed how she, and she alone, in all her plainness, consumed his mind as of late.
The fine line between love and hate continuing to grow evermore cloudy by the moments spent within her presence.
[The Broken Sapphire](https://archiveofourown.org/works/43137514) Ditto; rated T
Aemond’s wife Lilithiel Martell keeps having dreams.
[The Next Right Thing](https://archiveofourown.org/works/43021605/chapters/108100551) Ditto; rated M
She became the blessing he never wished for, his damnation. She became the living, breathing proof that Aemond Targaryen carried his heart outside his body.
But when has any of that ever been powerful enough to endure a conflict of principles?
*Aegon
[Blood in the water](https://archiveofourown.org/works/49430368) Vaemond’s daughter OC; rated E
Some will say that the deaths of Lady Laena Velaryon and Ser Laenor Velaryon, daughter and son of the Sea Snake and Queen That Never Was, were the first cracks in the long standing alliance between House Velaryon and House Targaryen. But most claim it was sudden union between Ser Vaemond Velaryon's daughter and the King's first born son.
What would follow was a turning point for both the houses. Legacies called into question, levies broken, blood spilled, and the dragons dancing.
*Criston
[A night alone](https://archiveofourown.org/works/41678814) MOC OC; rated E
Alas, Death never came for Ser Criston Cole, and he was left with faded memories of pleasure and pain shared with his mates.
*Alicent
[The bastard and the lady](https://archiveofourown.org/works/52819291) Not rated
Aemon Waters was 9 years of age when he figured out what he was. A bastard. Had his mother and father been married he would be The Prince of The Realm. The heir. Perhaps he shall be.
*Daeron
[Solemnity](https://archiveofourown.org/works/65663323/chapters/169081267) AU where the WOC is a vampire; rated T

*Multiple characters (POC lead)
[Rage is a Scarlet Gown](https://archiveofourown.org/works/67089178/chapters/173220970) Laenor x Rhaenyra’s daughter OC; rated M
Visenya Velaryon is the first and only trueborn child of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon. As each of her brothers come into the world after her, looking nothing like her nor their father but with a stronger claim to both the iron throne and Driftmark simply because they were born male, Visenya struggles to come to terms with her mother’s decision to name Jace as her heir. Vis then must make the most difficult decision of her life yet: assert her claim to the throne and expose her brothers as bastards in the eyes of all the realm, or risk a war between dragons that could tear down the very family she seeks to protect.
