So, I bought this for mine a couple of years ago and I did put her on top of it, but at the same time me and my folks were worried that her claws wouldn't grip the ladder, so we bought some carpet but haven't put it on yet. I've seen plenty of examples of sliders and map turtles using this to good effect, but I've never seen one with a Pelomedusid, and my mom was worried that if we filled her tank all the way with water she would drown, even though I did tell her that, yes, African sidenecks are capable of swimming just fine. Anyways, is there other African sideneck-owners with this loft?
