The subreddits we report on that are claimed to be '''Women's-Only Spaces''' are in fact transphobic hate groups, using the claim of '''Women's-Only Spaces''' as a way to claim they are being discriminated against in bad faith.
There are tens-of-thousands of actual Women's-Only Spaces on Reddit, that have been going along for years. They don't tolerate transphobia - whether it's casual and subtle or militant and aggressive. You never see us report on them because they aren't publicly promoting transphobia.

We ban people for breaking sitewide rules and/or our subreddit rules (violating boundaries). A lot of people think that Reddit's Sitewide Rules and/or individual community's rules (other people's boundaries) don't apply to them. If you're on Reddit engaging in transphobia, you clearly believe that rules (boundaries) don't apply to you; you are comfortable violating boundaries. In which case - we don't want anything to do with you.

On the topic of the r-Rapeson post, multiple people in the comments of that post brought up Reddit's seeming hypocrisy with banning r-Rapeson but leaving up r-Incest and other subreddits of morally objectionable content. I do not believe that Reddit is being hypocritical, as hate speech is outright banned on Reddit (Rule 1), and those kinds of topics aren't, however, I would like to give those people their flowers here and state that I agree with them personally, that Reddit should at least take a look at banning some subreddits they referenced, especially the "lolicon" ones.

Numerous comments in post defend displacement and targeting of protected ethnicities under site wide rule 1.
2ndYomKippurWar is a sub that was founded 2-3 years ago, and the sidebar reads: “This subreddit is for the discussion of the Second Yom Kippur War which began on October 7, 2023.” It has ~55k subscribers, 2 posts per day and 7 comments per day. The userbase is primarily (from my nonscientific assessment) American and Israeli and primarily analyzes the conflict in Gaza from a pro-Israel perspective.
This subreddit allows calls for violence (primarily against Palestinians) and racist, dehumanizing language (again primarily against Palestinians). Subreddit rules as posted on the sidebar explicitly ban this, however, a review of prominent posts on the subreddit (with moderators active in the comment section) show this is unenforced:
A post showing a grievously injured man and a boy (post identifies them as a father and son with injuries due to an Israeli missile attack) - comments include “This same father and son I bet cheered when innocent Israeli families were slaughtered” [+38]; “Hamas fighter survives counter strike. Tried hiding among his family like a coward. Fixed the headline for ya” [+26];
“Refusing to see the pattern of Islam across the globe so you can appear tolerant. Clown. I refuse not to see the glaring incessant pattern” reply: “Ya it’s always funny to me when people from the liberal west defend a group of people stuck in 500 AD when their religion was founded.” Reply: “Agreed. The evidence is available to everyone, but most refuse to examine because it makes them uncomfortable.”
A post glorifying the Netzah Yehuda battalion of the Israel Defense Forces, which has been credibly accused of torture, sexual assault, and other abuse of civilians. In 2026 soldiers of this unit detained Jewish Canadian CNN correspondent Jeremy Diamond and assaulted his camera crew; the IDF subsequently apologized to CNN.
The comment section is a mix of support and condemnation of the unit involved, however, some of the condemnation is framed in racist terms: “…maybe stop acting like some Arab army unit. …” [+377]
A post discussing a statement by an Indian political party re: the war in Gaza. Comments include explicit calls for violence against Palestinians: “…I grew up in a time where the American liberal media was able to print endless stories of innocent Palestinians being shot at by the evil IDF, presented with zero context as to why a Palestinian was killed. There is no more spinning the narrative. The fuck bags filmed their war crimes and shared them with the world. They are the pigs, they are the scum.
Fuck any governmental body that tells Israel to cease fire. More death, more pain, more destruction is warranted.”
A post claiming that Palestinians have received ~10x the aid that other deserving groups have. Comments include: “…Ungrateful waste of life.”

This person's activity in other subreddits (including a comment left here in AHS) shows a high ranking on Dark Triad personality traits (sadism, sociopathy, narcissism, Machiavellian manipulation) common to racial supremacists, violent extremists, and hate group membership.
This behaviour follows a pattern of white identity extremists following a policy of "No More Brother Wars", a name for a policy that involves:
Not attacking other antisemitic, white identity extremist groups and individuals;
promoting violent extremism and war between the targets / "enemies" of antisemitic White Identity Extremist groups - Jews, Israelis, Arabs, and Muslims;
isolating Israel and Zionist Jews from public life / political life in democratic / "White" (USA / Europe) countries (and doing the same to Arabs and Muslims), to drive xenophobia and a desire to emigrate away from diverse, equitable, inclusive societies (and stoking the perpetuation of violent conflict)
To that end these antisemitic WIE groups, using long standing subreddits for "criticism" of Israel and "criticism" of Palestine, play on both groups' anger, fear, and hatred of The Other, amplifying hateful tropes.
This user account is participating in a subreddit (DeclineIntoCensorship) that was operated by an adherent of the founder of Liberty Lobby (Willis Carto) as can be seen in this capture of a post in the subreddit - https://archive.ph/XZKpx (ThomasJeffersonMod, a suspension evasion account; that person's previous account had been suspended for using Reddit for stalking and doxxing someone who had been previously employed by the Soros Foundation).
Carto also founded the notorious Institute for Historical Review, the most prolific Holocaust denialism group in America, as well as a literal neoNazi group.
DeclineIntoCensorship was created explicitly to forward the same "Jewish people have control of American media" talking points that Liberty Lobby expounded for decades. It survived the 2020 bans because the operators had been extremely careful to never enable or encourage explicit violence or hatred.
Its audience is both antisemitic and islamophobic. (And transphobic )
Bottom line: Embracing dogmatic justifications / denialist tropes / derailing tropes / dismissals of legitimate concerns for wars, violence, and genocides - opens the doors to empowering neoNazis who want to see non-Whites (i.e, non-Christian-European-descendant-Caucasians) to kill each other in perpetual conflict, a tactical stratagem that (in private conversations) WIEs (white identity extremists) call "Kill with a Borrowed Knife", after the classical Chinese stratagem from the Thirty-Six Stratagems.

I know in detail why Hamas is scheduled by the US Department of State as a FTO. In detail.
I know the antisemitic laws and policies of the Arab states surrounding Israel; I know the history.
And I know in great detail the international treaties between the USA and Israel - the mutual defense treaties, that require the USA to provide resources when Israel encounters a situation that can be classified to fit into one or more of the buckets outlined in those treaties. I know that the treaties have the same legal status under the US Constitution as the Constitution itself - they are the law of the land, and as such, require similar levels of effort to repeal or amend as amending the Constitution itself. I know the historical reasons those treaties were written. I know why Israel exists and why it has a legal right under international law to exist, on the land it had in 1967, 1968. I know why it gave land back to Egypt.
I also know what happened after October 7 2023.
There is a phenomenon called philosemitism. It's where a group - in this case, the United States GOP under Trump, which is highly antisemitic, instead of having a direct role of the Persecutor, sees another group taking the role of Persecutor of its victim, and instead it takes on a role of Rescuer of its target victims (in this case, the Jewish People) in order to gain social status and political power, to use the Jewish people as game pieces in their game of thrones. Pawns. Daddy, who will always come to the rescue. It reduces the Jewish people who submit to this relationship, to pawns. It's like being beholden to the Mafia. No independent existence, no dignity.

The_Donald was the largest proponent of antisemitic hate speech on Reddit by volume and reach, surpassing r/holocaust and the subreddits explicitly created by violent neoNazis. Every Republican president was taking meetings with virulent antisemites. Billy Graham, exponent of the Southern Baptist ministry church, used his time with Nixon to impress upon him his view that Jewish americans were "strangling" American society through control of the media, and referred to them as "the Synagogue of Satan". I like to think of myself as what US law calls "a reasonable person". I'm not Israeli; I'm not Jewish; but I do have a great admiration for the Tenth Man Rule, so named from Israeli policy arising out of the 1973 Yom Kippur War:

I was that "Tenth Man".
Back in 2020 AgainstHateSubreddits was approached and was asked to adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism as our official definition of antisemitism.
We had a long, long, involved debate in the mod team about it. It ultimately hinged on the fact that just one clause - one - of the IHRA definition (if interpreted prescriptively) would absolve Israel of racist atrocities carried out, because any criticism of such would be labeled as antisemitism under that definition, prescriptively.
I was the "Tenth Man" in that discussion, arguing that the IHRA definition was developed as a short, non-binding, descriptive explanation of the kind of rhetorical tactics used by such known antisemitic groups as the KKK and Liberty Lobby, from the 1950's through to the 2000's. That it wouldn't be used to shield Israel from charges of racist policy, or genocide, because Israel's responses to terrorist aggression wouldn't ever be genocidal, asymmetric. Punitive, on the level of ethnic cleansing.
Ultimately we decided to not adopt the IHRA definition - because that clause, if used prescriptively, would be perversely used to shield Israel from legitimate criticism. A clause intended to explain to people that White supremacist claims of discrimination at the hands of Jewish Americans were in bad faith.

The subsequent labeling of all outcry against it as antisemitism, even to citing the IHRA definition?
I wrote this 11 years ago. I probably would have written it on October 8th 2023, and probably even on October 9th 2023. "Israel has a right to its existence; Israel has a right to defend itself; The surrounding Wahabbist and Shia states were clearly the aggressors; Israel is in the right."
Sometime between October 7 2023 and January 1st 2025, though, the utterly asymmetric response by Israel to not just Hamas but all Palestine, and beyond into Lebanon -

Two problems: 1. it implies American culture has experienced bad traits of immigrants which are negatively affecting the country.
2. claims American culture is being diluted.
Those two points are not compatible with site wide rules in an American context.
While reviewing a Republika Srpska-focused subreddit, I found a recurring pattern of hostility toward Muslims and Bosniaks. This includes anti-Muslim generalizations, degrading stereotypes about Muslims and Islam, and comments treating hostility toward Muslims as normal or justified.
I also found several discussions about Srebrenica containing direct genocide denial, attempts to minimize the killings as “revenge,” claims that the legal classification is propaganda, and praise for Ratko Mladić, who was convicted of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. Srebrenica was legally recognized as genocide by both the ICTY and the International Court of Justice.
Most of the relevant comments are written in Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian, which may make the pattern less visible to English-speaking Reddit administrators and users.
I understand that criticism of Islam, Bosniak politics, or international courts is not automatically hate speech. My concern is the repeated shift from criticism of ideas into hostility toward Muslims and Bosniaks as groups, alongside the denial or minimization of an established genocide.
Archive 1 - A Srebrenica discussion containing repeated genocide denial and minimization, as well as comments praising convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić as a hero.
Archive 2 - A thread containing repeated anti-Muslim and anti-Bosniak comments, including hostility toward religious clothing (look up "hidžab treba zabraniti"), exclusionary statements about Muslims, and degrading stereotypes about Islam and Muslim women.
Archive 3 - A thread containing repeated Srebrenica genocide denial, victim-count minimization, conspiracy claims about victims’ bodies, anti-Bosniak slurs, and comments endorsing or celebrating further violence against Bosniaks.
These are only three recent examples from the past couple of days that I found in 5 minutes, and I am not claiming that every thread or every user in the community promotes hate. However, the frequency and apparent acceptance of these comments suggest a recurring community-level problem rather than a few isolated incidents.
