Just messing about with this tune as I’m a bit obsessed… especially the big doom riffs.. they were so good live.. “No I ain’t got no sugar baby now”..
Love the album, but I’m curious what everyone thinks about the production and mixing on House of Mirrors. Do you like the polished, modern sound, or would you prefer ATW to go for something rawer and more organic on the next album?
I'm ready to give my ratings index. First of all, I love the record, there are no bad songs on it, just good and great. I think it's one of their best albeit a different style then their previous stuff. I think they're aiming for more hooky sounds and riffs this time and it pays off on almost all of it, their talent for creating awesome music is undeniable. Ben is the man, absolute genius. He and MPJ are magical together, no disrespect to the others.
I won't rank the songs individually, but I'll organize them in tiers
Tier S
2 songs that I think stand out above and beyond everything else:
Saturn Song, Culling Line
Tier A
Red Rocking Chair, The Welterweight, Go Getter, Starting Line
Tier B
Turn on the light, Angel On The Wayside
Tier C
Aethernet, Hold Up, Say What?
Just my opinion in the order of songs that actually give the best visceral, emotional reactions. ATW are great at that.
After watching the recent KEXP I went back to this and reminded myself why I fell in love with the band. I do very much like the new album but to me this can't be beat...
Their set from Rock Werchter is available online, but the website won't recognize a VPN and isn't available outside Belgium. Can anyone here get access and upload the file to YouTube?
This should be released as an Live Album just like the first Ancienne Belgique show.
They sound absolutely amazing in this.
Diamond performance is mind blowing and the transition to 1x1 is stunning.
[Appreciation post!]
I was not yet convinced of the new album but they do sound amazing when they play it live, like almost everything they created.
Saw them about 8 months ago and yesterday and both were killer shows.
Also loved the bands picked for the opening acts, it is such a treat when these are bands whose own show would be worth it already.
Elder last year, yesterday we got Rezn and Slomosa.
Just raw energy, this track cranks hard
Hey, thought I post some pics I took of the guys in Bristol. My fave band was an honour to shoot. If you want to check out the full set or anything else please give me a follow on insta https://www.instagram.com/p/DZ5rcVxCA16/?igsh=MWtnNmh6ejVya25wdw==
Edit: all gone!
Hey all. The staff at the Berkeley Theater were giving out handfuls of these instead of only one. I have 4(!) extras that need a home.
Hit me up if you’re interested, and I’ll figure out the cheapest and best way to ship it to you. That’s all I would ask is for you to pay shipping and handling.
Stay sane in this crazy world.
Edit: hopefully you were there, or you are a huge fan. Please don’t ask because you want to resell.
Title pretty much is the question.. all the albums have a unique sound and the band is so diverse imo but curious as to what others think is their definitive sound if it had to be a single song?
I was probably in the group that was slightly disappointed at first and it definitely took a few listens for House of Mirrors to fully click for me, but man.. it really is another outstanding album.
A bit more "classic rock" in sound and feel compared to their previous albums I think, but it's All Them Witches and it's awesome.
Go Getter hasn’t been played on any of the recent House of Mirrors shows.
I wonder why? They’ve played the rest of the album most shows.
Hopefully they will in the future.
Makes me think about some of the mellower songs we’ve not heard live…Mellowing! and others
I'm so proud of the band but FUCK
SOLD OUT IN 21 minutes?!
Looking to pick up a solid raw record from All Them Witches. Their session on KEXP is always on repeat and I would prefer a studio version or a collection of their records. Any recommendations and if there is a more studio version that I can order online?
