Trying to build a modern outlaw country project around loneliness, motels, and highway life — would love honest feedback

I've been working on a modern outlaw country project inspired by late-night highways, cheap motels, and that feeling of driving too far from home.

I just released my first two songs:
“Tail Lights” and “Cheap Motel.”

I'm trying to make something that feels more like an Americana film universe than traditional radio country.

Would genuinely appreciate feedback on:

  • songwriting
  • atmosphere
  • production
  • what feels authentic vs forced

Especially from people who listen to Americana / alt-country.

What song is Townes Van Zandt playing in the beginning of this video?

Immediately after the producer/technician’s voice says “Townes, can we have a few more chords, please?” Townes launches into this really great little tune - what song is it? (I’m admittedly more of a Gram Parsons fan so I’m not AS familiar with Townes discography - forgive me!)
