Nifidipine question

My fissures are result of diarrhea not constipation leading to very painful outer rectum and raw skin.

When I put nifidipine ointment it burns as hell. Any advise? Thanks!

Does anal fissure cream actually heal it?

On week 4 of using OTC cream and genuinely cannot tell if anything is happening. The pain is a bit less intense but that could just be me getting used to it mentally.

Asked my doctor and got a very unhelpful "these things take time." Cool, but how much time? and is the cream actually doing something or just numbing it? Has anyone had a fissure fully heal using cream? What kind and how long did it take?

Has anyone found a way to guarantee a smooth Consistency?

I can’t use psyllium, currently using MiraLAX in the evening but BM is still just a little too firm and I get reinjured each day. I need a way to get it smoother for a few days. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Recurring anal fissure and growing skin tag

Hello all! I have been having bleeding with anal fissures since a few years.. mainly due to constipation or hard stool.. A skin tag has been growing too.. i had not thought about it much before.. I just thought i will eat more fibre drink more water and it will be fine.. but it keeps coming back and over the years the skin tag has become big.. its almost the size of a big pea (around 1 cm) maybe even a bit bigger than that.. I usually used to just get streaks of blood on stool but recently i got drops of blood, also had some trouble sitting which had not happened before.. and i finally went to the doc.. He didn’t look at it but just gave me some normal inflammation meds and prebiotic probiotic meds etc from the symptoms i told.. advised a betadine sitz bath, exercising and no meat as well (hate to ditch the spices as an indian pls advice some good food if u know).. i have been doing that.. Trying to eat fibre drink more water.. BUT the skin tag is big and i feel like because of that the size of
my h*le might have become smaller? Which in turn makes it a bit harder to poo and i have to strain a bit… Im considering removal but im not sure if i should get it.. the tag itself doesnt hurt but BMs hurt (like burning) My mom says just put it inside??? Really? Can that be done??? And even after all this treatment what if it comes back.. the fissure the blood the skin tag.. what care should i really take.. what do i eat and drink.. what do i avoid.. should i get the removal done? Ahhh i have so many questions and chatGPT isnt helping

Where can I buy nifedipine/diltiazem?

I've only been recommended one online compounding pharmacy so far, and they only sell diltiazem for $100. I would like to try nifedipine, and I would like to know if there are cheaper options. I'm in the US.

(My doctor has been dismissive of this treatment option, and while I know I need to replace him, that will take time)

back to the start or just a setback?

hello, I have a chronic anal fissure for which i’ve been taking treatment for 6 months now. i stopped having symptoms and living normally for about 3 months now, but my doctor advised i should still use the ointment she prescribed (diltiazem) with macrogol daily, which i did. This week, I had an episode of diarrhea (went like 5 times to the toilet that day) - felt some discomfort nothing too bad - which was followed the next day by a hard stool. And guess what. The fissure ripped again and I bled. Currently this is day 3 since the fissure reteared and honestly I’m thinking of going back to my doc because the pain is too much for me, I have no idea if the progress is all gone and I want to discuss further treatment options.

I’m writing this because I want to know if you have experienced something similar to this, and if you tried further treatment options like botox or surgery.

I’m also in my twenties and I was hoping that maybe the healing process would be smoother for me but turns out all it took was one hard stool.

Need some hope please

I m on my chronic anal fissure healing process for 6 months. I dont have any blood for 5 months and ı can go to restroom once a day. I am not constipated amd my soreness is not gone but it decreased. İn toilet it dont feel like razor blade anymore. But ı have a swollen bump on my fissure. I noticed some days the swollen bump is really small but some days swollen bump is bigger and painful. İt changes day to day.
Anyone experienced this? I went to doc in my 3. Month and doc said it is not hemoroid or tumor etc. He said you need time but ı have health anxiety and it is my 6. Month.
I am really anxious and ı dont have anyone to talk.
Do u guys experienced this? This painful swollen area (changes day to day) normal? And do u think ı can heal still?

I have some genuine tips - Chronic fissure for 3 years

I'm someone who's living with chronic fissure for three years

Firstly PLEASE DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER AND TAKE PSYLLIUM HUSK DAILY

this is so you donot get the hard stool

Next whenever you feel like pooping i go to the washroom and splash hot/ warm water all over my aashole ofc not too hot

But warm water relaxes the muscles around so it is easier for them to stretch

After this is quick lubricate my anus with either clarified butter or coconut oil

Then i sit on the toilet

The more you clencg the more it hurts and chances of cuts

Please lift your feet or squat

I know it hurts but just don't push or strain and take keep breathes

Exhale when the poop comes out

After you're done please take a sitz bath and apply the healing ointment given by your doc, i take crema gel

Don't take laxatives because they make the poop sticky it sticks around the wound and it prevents the wound from healing

Also donot forget the lots of water and psyllium husk DAILY WITHOUT FAIL

We want to avoid constipation

I'm someone who's suffered for too long

It heals but it only takes one constipated hard stool to ruin all your progress so please take care

Infact I've had times where I was constipated literally in a disgusting public train toilet and it was so bad that I had to use my finger and dog into my poop to make space and let it come out

Oh god best believe I SAW GOD AND CAME BACK

Please trust my advice

I need ONE , only one cream or gel or anything which would really work and show me visible results . Pls dont mention diltiazem ,ive been using it for 6 months no result . So i need a powerful , more stronger one to increase blood flow and actually start to heal. I aint afraid of any headaches or dizziness or whatsoever , so soooo BRING IT ON !!!

Sitz baths - key to healing or mainly pain reduction?

I was wondering from people who have healed their fissures or have spoken to a CRS about this; are sitz baths a requirement to heal your fissure? Or are they more for pain relief?

This is my first fissure, I'm 6 weeks into prescription creams and the pain and spasms have finally *almost* subsided, I still am doing almost daily sitz baths but I'm curious to know if I should be militant about taking one every single day.

How long does it take to see some improvement (Nifedipine)?

Hi ). Sorry for the detailed description ). I want to share some very effective techniques that helped me relieve constipation, without needing any laxatives or enemas.

My name is Elya, I’m 30 years old. I’ve suffered from severe constipation since I was a child. A year ago, whenever I went to the bathroom, I would strain a lot, and nothing would come out.

I would give up and take several stool softeners until something finally came out.

But they stopped working for me, and I quit taking them (I hate laxatives).

Now I’m much worse ))

Whenever I feel my butt numb, with cramps, and my back tense, I know something very thick and hard is waiting for me when I go to the bathroom )

So I wait until I have a very strong urge to poop and pee. (Strong stimulation helps the stool move down a lot.)

And when I can’t hold it anymore, I run to the bathroom carrying a small mirror to see what’s happening.

Then I sit on the toilet, relieve the urge, and start peeing. While I pee, my anus dilates a lot without anything coming out.

The pressure is horrible — it feels like something very hard is pressing against my back, trying to come out, but you feel extremely blocked up.

So I look in the mirror and see my anus very open in an “O” shape, without even the tip of the stool appearing.

I push lightly, my anus swells slightly while staying slightly open, and still nothing comes out.

So what I do is squeeze my anus and open it repeatedly.

Every time I squeeze, I try to stimulate the internal pressure. And when I open it, I direct the stimulation toward the exit until my anus becomes very dilated again without closing. (The dilation increases the urge and helps the stool move down. If your anus stays closed, be worried.)

After that I feel more internal lubrication, but the stool still doesn’t appear.

Sometimes my anus closes and the urge decreases.

So at that moment, what I do is stand up, spread my butt cheeks wide, stretch my anus with my hands, and while stretched out I tighten and open my muscles to stimulate myself like before.

Then I sit back down, look in the mirror again at my anus open, and let the same stimulation move the stool downward.

If it still doesn’t move down, I push lightly one more time. (I don’t recommend continuing to strain because that blocks the exit.)

If the poop still doesn’t move down, I make a ball of scented toilet paper or toilet paper with aloe vera and insert it into my anus. (The scented paper increases lubrication and the urge quite a lot.)

I move the paper around in circles and stimulate my walls. And when I feel a strong urge, I remove the paper ball and let the same stimulation move the stool downward.

I repeat this sitting and standing several times until I feel the stool pressing against my exit.

And finally, when I feel it’s about to come out, I quickly sit on the toilet, spread my butt cheeks wide, and see in the mirror that my anus is very red and dilated.

I feel a lot of stimulation at the opening of my anus, and something very hard pressing near the exit.

I push and relax my anus harder, increasing the dilation.

And with every push, I feel something dark and hard appearing more and more at my opening, swelling and stretching my anus even more in the mirror.

Until with one of those pushes, the head of a very hard and thick stool full of pebble-like lumps finally comes out, stretching my anus a lot.

I relax my anus and feel relieved that the head of the hard stool finally appeared. But now it’s time to get it out 🫠

I spread my butt cheeks, lean forward, and push hard while pouting with my lips.

Some hard pebble-like pieces break off and fall heavily into the water.

I keep tightening and pushing with my butt cheeks spread open, and larger and larger hard lumps come out.

Until at some point they block the exit because they are so thick and hard.

At that moment I try different techniques:

\- I stand up, push while standing, sit back down, and continue pushing while opening my anus with my fingers.

\- I look in the mirror, touch each hard lump, and remove it manually. (You can use gloves if you want.)

\- If it’s still stuck, I insert another ball of toilet paper into my anus to stimulate myself more and increase lubrication so the stool can slide out.

At that point I usually manage to remove all the hard lumps.

But after that comes the most difficult part.

My anus remains dilated, and I feel a thick, uniform, very hard log starting to appear, stretching my anus to its limit.

But because I’m lubricated, I barely feel pain.

When the hard log gets stuck halfway out, I lean forward, insert two fingers into my vagina, and push downward on the stool reflex while continuing to push.

With the other hand, I try to dilate my anus more and pull the stool out manually.

Sometimes I move my hips in circles to force the stool toward the exit, and when I feel it continuing to come out, I grab the stool and pull it out with my hand while pushing.

Until finally everything comes out.

And the best part is that the stimulation and natural lubrication prevent you from feeling pain.

Help me understand

Hi,
Been dealing with a stubborn fissure for almost a year (but officially diagnosed at the end of Dec 25).

My pain at this point is only when I’m standing still or walking too much, only after BMs. It’s like a burning/stinging, but it feels external (like where the cut is). I don’t feel like I’m tight anymore, but I’m clearly not out of the woods. What is this pain from? Is it the cut actually healing or am I still spasming?

I do have Botox scheduled for June 10th and a check up with my CRS this week. But I reallyyy don’t want to go through with the Botox.

Many people with endo here?

I have deep infiltrating endo adhering my bowel and I think it’s the no 1 reason I am struggling to heal my fissure. My hormones are just so over the place and it’s so hard to control my GI symptoms.

I’m curious if there are many other people in here with the same issue and if it’s common…

What types of carbohydrates should I eat?

Guys, what types of carbohydrates should I eat to avoid constipation or increased stool volume? I'm kind of tired of eating only mashed potatoes, oatmeal, or bananas... I've completely lost the pleasure of eating because of this condition. I miss eating a hamburger or something like that...

Swollen anal skin tag after surgery

So I am day 6 post-op. Since the very beginning I noticed that one of my anal skin tags got swollen and thicker. Is it normal? I am not bleeding. If I don’t take painkillers my butt can hurt pretty much tho. Today I checked my butt and it’s pretty big. I am worried. Control on Wednesday.

Hours 96-144 Post LIS

Hello everyone!

Not much of an update. There's still some drainage from the incision, and some pain, but I can tell there's improvement.

My opinion on Peri bottles? Eh. I don't think they work well for cleaning, but I'll admit it is soothing to my bum to be rinsed with water once I'm clean. It's a take it or leave it type deal, imo.

I ran out of the pads the surgery center provided me to protect my undies and ordered depends from Walmart. I could have used panty liners or pads, but those are expensive and I'd rather not use them for the drainage. It's a little embarrassing to be 32 and wearing adult diapers, but you gotta do what you gotta do. 🤷🏼‍♀️

All that being said, I can tell this surgery has benefited me. The constant pain in my anus is gone. Having BMs and gas only hurts because it irritates the incision but that's improving. It's also a lot easier to have a BM. Is surgery fun or something to take lightly? No. But I'm glad I did it.

This is probably the last update, but feel free to comment if you have any questions!
