How do you get hollow new terrain schematics to build in survival?

Hello.

I plan on building new terrain on my survival world by building the terrain in creative then making it into a schematic, but am unsure how to impose the new terrain without it conflicting with the old. I want to build the new terrain over any old terrain while having it hollow in the schem to save resources, as many youtubers do. Yes, I know of the hollow command, but when I use it leaves a flat piece on the bottom, and it has undesirable conflicts with old terrain.

An example of what I would like to do is Jermsyboy's video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73uYauTPLW4

I'm just curious on how he was able to have his schematic interact so well without interfering with the old terrain. Did he build it in creative from the bottom up, block by block instead of using tools like sphere? I'd like to do something like this after building the terrain up with spheres and then shaping it afterward. But when I do it this way, the bad interactions with the old terrain I mentioned earlier occur. Please let me know if my question is confusing, thanks.

Help with island

I have this castle on an island that i want to make in my survival world. I was wondering if there is a command where i can select the very bottom layer of the actual island and then it automatically goes down and out by one block until it hits the bottom of the ocean. For more clarification on what I mean, i want the part of the island that is underwater to be a gradual ascent from the bottom of the ocean, going up and in by one block until it breaches the surface while following the shape of my island until it breaches the surface of the water to see what you see in the image

How can I extend this 4-point star into a trail behind it?

I am playing ATM10 and making a mid game base for myself with axiom. I am a total beginner, but I want to extend the back of this star into a trail. I imagined the trail to kinda emerge from the back of the star going from the star's shape itself into a pointed/tapering off structure.

EDIT: Wanted to mention that I am using axiom 5.4.2 on minecraft 1.21.1
