BLKBRD : A bird that preys on your patience and trust

I have been wanting to post my review of the blkbrd boots that I bought a while back, so here goes an honest account of my user experience.

Model : Rudiger Toscanello Horserump

Construction: Above average construction and decent build quality. Great comfort and surprisingly easy ingress egress.

Leather : Beautiful Maryam Toscanello Leather, more details on some of the other nuances later

Order to Delivery TAT : 3 weeks( great for MTO )

Customer Service : NIGHTMARISH and NON EXISTENT

Context : The boots got delivered to me a few weeks back and upon 2 wears I noticed quite aggressive scraping of the top coat on the tongue. Reached out to customer service team , however nobody bothers to really respond so after waiting for a response for 2 days, managed to get hold of Sandeep, the co founder’s number and apprised him of the issue.

After back and forth for 2-3 days, I was told that they will need to get the boot picked up and check the speed hooks and eyelets as that seemed to be the cause of scraping.

Boots get picked after 5-6 days, but not without constant nudging, which is quite irritating.

My real ordeal with blkbrd starts here. Constant followups, ghosting by the team. Vague responses..et al.

All throughout im told that the speedhooks are of top notch Italian quality, that the scraping shouldnt happen. However I have to keep telling them -“ It is what it is, the italian stallions are spoiling my boot so do something about it”.

The boot is kept for almost 2 weeks, post which im told that im getting a saphir cream, kiltie to prevent the scraping. Nutshell, speedhooks cant be removed.

My main ruse with these guys is that the top layer came off in places with minimal eyelet / speedhook contact, top corner off of the tongue. I kept on asking the founders the reason behind this but repeatedly got just one response that they are enquiring with Maryam !

Not one apology, not one!! When the delays happened, when i pressured about logics and why a thread was coming out after 2 wears- I was told these things happen and that I should support and that the company is trying hard with a ton of bootstrapped capital.

I dont want to hear about that when i have kept my conduct extremely professional all along.

A professional like me who doesnt have time and pays upwards of 25k for a boot expects much more in return. Also simple acceptance of a mistake without giving vague excuses will help build trust in the longer term.
