Help/questions with: BOLC TDY enroute to first assignment (PCS to Hawaii)

I'm a new LT and soon go to EBOLC for 6 months (including holiday block leave). I have UB and HHG along with shipment of POV in my orders. But I'm not sure where to start to initiate those.

I want to plan timelines on when to ship things in order for them to arrive in Hawaii when I get there. My questions/concerns are:

  1. Am I able to have the movers grab my HHG and UB from my home of record while I am physically away at BOLC? I was told it takes 10 weeks and I want to mitigate as much waiting for my shipments when I get to Hawaii.

  2. Should I report to Hawaii as soon as I can since I am able to arrive 30 days before my report date? I understand this is a personal question, but in preference to ease as much of the moving and settling-in headache, I assume this is the way to go. --If I don't, will it be using my leave and potentially go negative?

  3. How were other's experiences with this process and finding an off-base apartment and roommate in Hawaii? I'm looking to live in Mililani.

  4. Generally during HBL, will my leaves be utilized and go negative or is it like a pass?

  5. Where or when can I find out my sponsor or POC for any of my concerns? I assume I'll find out once at BOLC.

Any help or input is appreciated. If others have experiences and recommendations, I'd greatly appreciate them as well.

Wife staying with me at MP BOLC?

I’ll be attending MP BOLC at Fort Leonard Wood, and since it’s TDY, I was wondering if my wife would be allowed to stay with me in my hotel room during BOLC. Has anyone done this recently? Would there be any issues with her staying with me for most or all of BOLC?

Requesting Earlier BOLC Date

Do you think if I email or call my branch manager I could get an earlier BOLC date. I have already been slotted for January 2027, when I looked at the ATTRS course catalog none of the classes have reached their maximum amount of people.

LG BOLC Pay Timeline

I’m a newly commissioned Reserve 2LT heading to LG BOLC soon. For anyone who has gone recently, when did your active-duty pay actually start coming in after reporting to BOLC?

I’m considering getting a new car before I leave, so I’m trying to get an idea of the pay timeline and whether there’s usually a delay with the first paycheck.

Any insight from recent LG BOLC grads would be appreciated!

Army/ military Nursing. DCC. BOLC. Questions. Lifestyle.

Anyone thinking of commissioning to active duty as a nurse, please share your experience. I have some questions too if anyone has answers. I am currently working on my documentation but its very tedious. Already cleared MEPS. Im going for 66S and hopefully get placed at walter reed medical center.

Little about me. I have 7 years prior service as army 11B. 5 years Nursing experience with 3 years in CCU. I have a family that will be with me.

Did anyone see soldiers with families at BOLC? I hear this was an option. How big are the classes, how much free time do we have. Pt required or encouraged? What was the DCC experience like? How long did it take from packet submission to DCC arrival? Once we arrive to our selected units, is there a nurse orientation? How long are we being precepted before taking on our own assignments? How does this coincide with our military obligations? How does scheduling work? How does leave work?

Maybe i have too many questions to write it all here but i hope we can get a long discussion here.
