PCS w/ dependents

Hey all,

Background: I was SMP, going active with Camp Cadre duty before heading to IBOLC. I've got a wife and kids, a dog, and 2 POVs.

My issue: My TDY is dated to end 3 days before my IBOLC report date. This seems inconsistent with my orders, which state: "report date to the PCS location should reflect 30 days prior to the start date of the schooling to ensure sufficient time for receipt and set-up of household goods prior to start date of schooling."

My concern is that I won't have enough time to assist my wife in our PCS across the country to Benning, and we won't have the time/opportunity to move into our on-post housing before my authorized report date.

I've called several people, including my nearest duty station's transportation office and the HR contact # listed on my orders (they only put in an inquiry through IPPSA). I'm also considering flying to Knox, getting a rental car, then flying back to help with the move.

What's the right move here? I understand she can sign a POA and sign off on HHGs. Is she supposed to figure it out herself and move all our kids and dog across country, then move into our new house without my help while I'm on TDY? This seems a bit screwy.

PCS to BOLC

Got my AD orders a few days ago. They say i am PCSing to Leonard wood for MP bolc, but they still have me staying in the IHG hotel on base. Is this normal or should i call and see if i actually have a room reserved for bolc? I only ask because my buddy who went last year PCS there for bolc and they told him he needed to get his own place off base. Im apart of the LAAP program if that matters

BAH with no Lease

I am in ARNG attending BOLC next month and was told by BDE that my orders don't require a lease to get BAH since my orders are 31 days or more. I know I needed a lease when I went to BCT and OCS, but is this true for BOLC? It says in my welcome letter that guard and reservist require their 5960's and original leases

Injury before BOLC inquiry

Fractured shoulder, L1 vertebrae, and sternum in a crash 7 months ago. I’m still dealing with shoulder, lower back, and hip issues. I’m leaving for bolc in 3 weeks.

Is it possible to go to sick hall regularly for physical therapy esp. in preparation for the 4mi run & 12mi weighted ruck?

I am considering not driving to BOLC and just flying. Need some input.

I am going to chemical BOLC and the DTS authorization is only reimbursing what it would be to fly since I live so far from Ft Leonard Wood, 900 something miles/15-16 hours. They said I can still drive though. It’s chemical BOLC.

From what I understand, I’ll be in the base hotel. I’m considering just flying at this point and then buying a bike for on post travel. My main concerns are if this is feasible and how I can get from the airport to on post, since I can’t just uber there. Any advice/input would be appreciated.

LOG BOLC

I’m heading to log bolc tomorrow. Should I bring my suitcases if my bags are full and should I bring food to bolc? Also do I need to wear ocps when I drive down to Fort Lee, or can I just wear civilian clothes?

LOGBOLC schedule and tips

I'm reporting to LOGBOLC in some time and I wanted to know, what's the schedule like week by week? When is the AFT + HT/Waist, 4x36, 12 miler, the field, etc etc. They had something like that for CST but not for LOGBOLC as far as I can see.

Also, I had seen rumors that it's getting harder now? Could anyone speak on that?

Also, what's some things to not forget to bring?

BOLC Orders

I have not received any word on orders for BOLC or follow on assignments. Is this common theme, or am I missing something. Thanks in advance.

Waiting on IBOLC, Looking for Advice

Just commissioned active MI detail IN via ROTC. Up to this point I have heard nothing from USACC as to BOLC dates. Honestly a little POed about it. Wondering if anyone is in a similar situation?

I’ve been thinking about contacting my branch manager. I’ve heard that while USACC handles slotting and generating orders, they could see my assignment and relay that info to me. I’ve also heard they play a major role in deciding your career so I’d rather not get on their radar in a potentially negative light if I don’t have to.

Also wondering if since I am detailed Infantry not pure Infantry if that affects anything?

Advice on getting a car

Is it better to get a car before, during, or after BOLC? And is there a place where people sell their cars on base?

*Any other relevant advice for buying a car would be appreciated as well.

Any recommendations on what type of laptop I should get for SBOLC and my career to start as a fresh new butter bar.

I was told the new Mac Pro is a good choice.

Armor BOLC Free Time

Will I have time to lift and run a couple of times during the week? I know we won’t have time during field weeks, I’m mainly asking for other parts of the time we’re there. Not in the morning since I’m assuming there will be PT, but more so between classes and/or end of work day.

Signal Prep

Hey all, I just commissioned last week and I’m looking forward to SBOLC this coming winter. For any who have been through the signal course, is there anything that you wish you would have known or studied up on prior to your course? I mainly just want to know if there is anything that tripped people up that I could potentially get ahead of in the next few months before I go. Thanks!
