This is a halfhearted vent but having come from discord rp, this Reddit erp, and maybe erp as a whole is awkward. I only made this account to try writing smut and explore myself and was too embarrassed to use my main discord account to erp. I’ve been doing text based rp for years so I thought it’d be a similar notion.

Which was apparently very naive.

There isn’t a common census on how to respond to an ad it seems, I love the ones that lay out what’s expected of you to respond with. Typically, a ref, kink and limits, and your own ideas, boom banger. Easy enough to do. Dare I say most ads are just some provocative prompt/scenario with a pic attached?? Then what? You lay out kinks, limits, a bit about yourself and you’re *over-discussing.* Some people want this large resumes of explaining yourself when their ad is comically small/unclear and you’re (presumably) shut down from there. Some people just want starters, and going straight into it with a starter is this bold blind move that is hoping you understand enough about your partner from the prompt to just begin. Also assuming they aren’t busy with someone else! Then people that ask for both leave me confused, just ask for a writing sample at that point.

Ghosting Galore

Holyyy shit. Maybe it’s more common with erp because people want to bust and leave, but if you want to just nut and go then use a fucking lewd chat bot and stop wasting my time. Done laying out likes and dislikes? Ghosted. Finally done discussing the prompt/plot? Ghosted. You do a good portion of the heavy lifting and merely ask for the other person to start? Ghosted. God forbid the roleplay start and things finally start getting somewhere and suddenly they dip to never return.

I understand people have lives, taking a step back from the rp is perfectly understandable. However is it not just good etiquette to announce you’re gonna either go for a long period of time or you don’t wanna continue? It’s so ass.

And holy shit! Limits exist for a reason!! Why do people ignore them?

My second attempt at this post after rereading the rules.

Genuinely a question I have at this point. State I'm not a fan of Futa or dicks involved in this current RP, person gives off vibes its fine.

2nd message from them talking about femboys and futas trying to mess with my character. Like bruh. We only started chatting an hour ago. Of all the ways to kill someone's interest in RPing with you, that's at the top.

I had someone reach out recently through an ad of mine asking people for their plots, while also offering several of my own to those who didn't happen to have any. Just a pretty broad search nothing crazy.

Someone reached out saying they were open to any plot, not offering something, not suggesting one of mine. A few kinks and the fact that they want to play a sub character, that's all I'm given to work with.

Keep in mind I'm very collaboratively minded and I enioy world and plot building with a sharp mind as much as I enjoy writing. Suffice to say this did very little for me. They again reiterated being open to "Any" Plot. I suggest that being a sub doesn't mean they can't contribute to a plot idea and get called a btch for my efforts.

Am I wrong that this feels like a red flag? Both as a creative red flag, but also in the way some "limitless" writers come across?

[I’m writing this because this happened to me 3-4 times during the past 2 weeks, and honestly it doesn’t feel good at all]

Before anyone slams me, I know that many people say that others will never be as interested in your plot as you are, which has some truth to it… although I met many people, and been that person who was very excited to work on an another world, plot, system, etc.

NOW, PICTURE THE SCENARIO…

- Someone responds to your plot
- They are interested, detailed, with their own ideas
- Writing, kinks, everything matches
- You wish to further discuss the world (since you STATED in your post that you’re looking for people who want to discuss the plot, world, character, etc) so you:
- Ask a question.
- …
- ….
- …..
- Silence.
- You read back, paranoid: maybe I asked somethign uncomfortable? No, I did not, it was just a plain question.
- After 12 hours, you message again, you know how discord and reddit works, sometimes a notif gets lost. Or maybe they just fell asleep/went to work? Timezones after all.
- Then one day pass.
- Two
- You don’t wanna message again because you don’t want to feel pushy or someone who expects the other to be terminally online
- Then, your motivation just withers away in the passing days
- All the excitement you gathered up in your little soul to finally talk about your kinky stuff just turns bitter, and I honestly can’t decide if them not answering ever again is better then them answering.

I know some of you want to comment “Well you should’ve stated how often the RP needs answers, how often are you available” or that “you can’t expect everyoen to be online 24/7.” First, it was. It was stated, multiple times. And no, I don’t expect them to be online. But it’s not like I’m waiting for a PhD answer? It’s literally just a single sentence question.

I’m gonna lose my mind, every time I get partway through starting the rp after the whole “what kinks” “how story” thing they just up and disappear once we start, every. Single. Time. I feel like I’m losing my mind. Could it be a session thing, could it just be ppl, I have no clue.

OK, I think we can all agree that a group rp is just hot, especially when it’s rapid and under 2 hours.

But my main annoyance with group rps unfortunately happened recently, and it was a very kinky one. Let’s start from the beginning.

It began in a server where I made a quick rp session with a small announcement. I grabbed the attention of two people who are really interested, and right when we were about to start—a fourth one joined. Now, for some reason, despite being the one who barged into the thread—they don’t seem enthusiastic. Remember when I mentioned it’s a kinky rp? Yeah, they’re really vanilla, and that was the whole reason.

Why would you join a group rp knowing it’s all extreme yet be such an annoying thing blocking progress from happening? All our rp responses were interesting, engaging, and immersive. And that person just comes with a: “oh… no, I can’t do anything ig”

Like, what the fuck you mean ig 😭

Nonetheless, we finished the rp while they kept on insisting that it’s alright.

They’re a good rper when they stay in their own zone instead of getting outside their comfort zone to be a mild inconvenience

So the context for this post is while I am a roleplayer and a member of the bad rp story subbreddit I do not post as many stories because I guess no one on there roleplays on Deviantartart or discord because I don't remember that many people using reddit for roleplaying so I am just going to share my recollection of the events of this type of roleplay for context.

The basic premise was a transformation roleplay about two very specific characters who are really just me and 'Freako' play fictonalized versions of ourselves but we have different styles as to how we play characters and Freako very much plays the type who likes controlling other characters and 'coaxing' them into mature scenarios, we played each-other's characters for the duriation of the scene that will be discussed here i.e the transformation, so basically we go into the tents and split up, I have to do his transformation scene first and well it's a bit awkward to describe what I had to do. Basically I was asked to play this rabbit character with a meaner personality, the big problem with me is I CANNOT play true evil characters or pure monster type characters who have no redeeming sides to them. So the best I could was 'comedic villain but has a heart' 'schoolyard bully' 'tragic monster', and well he wanted me to play the character a bit meaner.

Which was followed by the scene that I basically just call William Aftoning because it literally is stuffing a human in a costume, where well the rabbit suit merges with him or something and it's made to be kind of vore but it isn't because vore would imply someone got eaten, and I felt uncomfortable doing the same, he then asked me he could make my character's transformation a mature scene and I said 'no' more than a couple of itmes but of course he used 'just this once' (which was a lie giving how many ERPs he did with people without consent), so what he did was that even though I had asked him not to do it, he did it anyway and made my character who was turning into a horse...uhhh touch his massive equine parts and well that was it, that was probably followed by him trying to force my character to be his lackey or his love slave given that it his trademark. I am myself bisexual, but I am against forced pairings especially if it is not mutural attraction, I did not consent to this, my character already has several love interests/crushes, and well being forced to do the humpy humpy with some who is perpetual always being Glenn Quagmire isn't exactly what I call good for me. Oh and I asked my friend who also has partaken in roleplays of this nature with this exact person how they felt about it they said they found the more not friendly for humanity aspects to be 'creepy' and/or 'excesssive' and I agreed with him on that. These rps inlcuding the infamous gorilla doctor one (based on an OC I dreamed up) where it all of a sudden is 'The real doctor is here' 'How can the real doctor be here if he is me and I am him?' 'Well i'm taking control and you're the clone and so he forces us to be his love slaves.' 'WHat? That made no sense and you pulled that out of your behind.' 'Did I? Anyway, we get involved in a mature scene together.' 'Oh well, here it goes.' *several hours later* 'What the hell was that about?'

All this was done way before I blocked him and reported him, this was much as context as I could get.
