What rack case are you using for Wing Rack?

I have an 8u rack that's about 17" deep (20 with covers on). It holds my Soundcraft UI24r, a sliding shelf with a wifi router and a small UPS mounted to the bottom of the rack in the back. IEM receivers are mounted on band members' pedal boards, not in the rack.

The UI has all inputs and outputs on the front, and we connect directly to it each show. I'll be replacing it with the Wing, so all connections will now be inside the rack, so I'll be reaching halfway in every time I'm making connections. It's probably fine for the 15 or so shows a year we do, but I'm curious if anyone is using racks that are more shallow for this reason.

OK to insert or remove SD card while Wing powered up ...

... if I'm not recording or playing back at the time? Or do I need to turn off the Wing before removing or inserting a card?

Delink EQ/FX between SOF and FOH

Hi! I'm new to the world of mixing but joined the AV team and I can't figure out how to adjust the EQ and FX settings for the livestream without the FOH settings moving as well. The volume faders aren't linked but everything else is. Do I just have to duplicate the channels for the livestream? I tried changing the sends but the effects are still linked.

Livestream is set to SOF on a separate bus.

This is for the Wing Rack.

Appreciate the help.

Edit: Thank you everyone for your insight! ArniEitthvad confirmed my suspicions that there's only one processing per channel. I'm going to duplicate the channels just for Livestream. I don't know how other people are managing both Livestream and FOH in one channel. Maybe it's YouTube compression but I think Livestream needs a wildly different setup in EQ and FX. Also doesn't help that FOH team doesn't want me to touch the settings too much so I'm stuck.

MPC One G2 and Behringer Wing Rack

Hey everyone,

For anyone running a Behringer WING Rack and wondering whether it's worth getting an MPC One G2: I have some great news. The WING Rack works perfectly as the MPC's USB audio interface.

You get access to all the available USB audio channels (I believe it's 24 or 32 in each direction, not 100% sure), which is more than enough to route individual instruments to separate channels on the WING. Likewise, you can route audio from the WING back into the MPC for sampling or recording.

A couple of important tips:

  • Set the sample rate on the Wing to 44.1 kHz.
  • Connect the MPC to the WING using the USB A port of the MPC (USB A to USB C cable).
  • Don't use the USB C to USB C connection. In my experience it isn't reliable, while USB A to USB C has been rock solid.

This integration has completely changed my workflow. Having the WING as the central mixer and audio interface for the MPC is incredibly powerful.

The WING Rack continues to work exactly as it always did, as if the MPC wasn't even there. Using the USB routing options, you can create virtually any signal path you can think of. Route each MPC plugin or instrument to its own channel on the WING, create a dedicated "MPC Bus" for sampling anything connected to the mixer, or record your entire performance back into the MPC on separate audio tracks for further editing.

The routing flexibility is amazing and really opens up a lot of creative workflow possibilities.

Have fun, and I hope this helps someone!

Trouble with standard effects

Note: Solved. Effect way more subtle than I thought.

I've successfully set up a few premium effects like delays and reverbs on buses, but I'm having trouble getting some standard effects to work, like Double Vocal and Velvet Imager. I've tried as pre and post direct inserts on my mic channel, and as a bus. I've also tried the Phaser and Tremolo just for testing. In all cases, the effects are set to On, and I have tried extreme settings with no apparent effect. I don't see any meters or activity on the effects, except for the VI meter that shows activity. I've tested through the main speakers and from a monitor output where the delays and reverbs work.

Weirdly, the Pitch Fix works, but is more subtle than I expected at extreme settings for testing.

Any advice?

XR18 plus dn4816-o as wing stage box?

If I patch the ultra net outs on an xr18 1-1, can I use this into a dn4816-o to provide them s inputs over stage connect? Appreciate that head amp control would be on the xr18 with this setup but I can live with that compromise.
