Let’s get biblical jk lol

But if you want a biblical rabbit hole here you go

See - Benet, Sula (Sara Benetowa). “Early Diffusion and Folk Uses of Hemp.” In Book of Grass, edited by Allen Ginsberg, 15–22. New York: Grove Press, 1967.
Benet’s most influential claim was that the Hebrew word "kaneh-bosm" (קְנֵה-בֹשֶׂם), which appears in the Old Testament (e.g., Exodus 30:23), was mistranslated in the Greek Septuagint as calamus (sweet flag). She argued that the root "kan" refers to hemp or a reed, and "bosm" means aromatic, suggesting that the holy anointing oil of Moses actually contained cannabis (Pisanti & Bifulco, 2018).
Benet's work was initially published in Polish in 1936, its inclusion in the Book of Grass (1967) introduced her theories to the Western counterculture and modern cannabis scholarship.
