Do newer fans not know Boogiepop is seperate from their host/Touka?

im not acting like ive been a fan for soooo super long im also newgen (maybe got interested 2 y ago) however recently ive been like spreading the word to different friendgroups and forums im in that hey everyone gotta watch bp its peak fiction… but when it comes back to me its always like "yeah i love boogiepop shes so cool!" and i get confused because like yes the host body is a woman but boogiepop themself the alter is gender neutral/agender, i feel like they make it pretty clear in both animes and the novels? maybe everyone i meet is just larping tho so idk if others have seen the same thing bro

sorry for bad grammar i cant write for shit 🙏

Boogiepop Saved Me From A Nightmare

Started the Boogiepop And Others novel a few days ago (already watched the Phantom anime some months ago and decided to read the novels to get a greater understanding of the universe before jumping into the 2019 adaptation) and this night had a dream where my dog was found dead, I was feeling like shit that whole time like it was actually happening, only for me to pick up a phone and see a photo of touka wearing the BP hat, bringing me awake, immediately tearing up and recalling the line "Do you think to do nothing when you see a fellow human crying?!” which has been my favorite quote in the LN so far. Never in my life have I been so grateful for a fictional individual especially since its so much in character.

I had a Boogiepop and Others LN keychain made! (EnchantedFeltFable on Etsy was the artist)

Now I can take one of my fave novels with me everywhere I go! :)

What is your favorite episode of Boogiepop Phantom, assuming you have one?

My favorite episode is probably Interlude. I love the concept of a monster slowly exposing itself over and over with the use of memory wipes. Honestly could stand as a hour long film unconnected to Boogiepop Phantom.

Light in Darkness was good too, but mostly because a boy eating astral/emotional creepy crawlies is cool.

Which version of Boogiepop do you like the most?

I personally like Boogiepop Phantom the most. The first LN was OK, what I read of it at least, but over halfway through and it is not hitting like BP. Part of it is too much needles banter and stuff, but I think Boogiepop is a concept that does better in anime form as music and movements and pictures(LN has pics, but not many) give it that creepy and dreamy feel.

Kinda disappointed with the first LN, are all of them this 'fillery'?

I love Boogiepop Phantom for its wonderfully creepy and dreamy vibes. Even though the storytelling is soso, I honestly think it does the atmosphere carried anime much better than Serial Experiments Lain does, though tbf I have not watched any of SEL yet, only clips. I have not seem the 2019 adaptation, but heard mixed reviews, mostly negative.

Unfortunately, the LN, so far at least, is not hitting the same. I mean, it definitely has its good moments, but I think it has too much...filler?

What I mean by that, is that unlike BP, Boogiepop and Others has WAY more irrelevant moments. I mean like there are parts were several pages are just dating talk or somesuch. There are other parts that were unliked by me as well, but not really enough to say they need cutting.

I should mention that I am like a little over half way through it. I hope there is more Manticore action or something.

Are the other novel this full of boring filler? If not, I might march on. But if so, I think I will just check out the mangas or spinoff LN, possibly the BaO anime.
