Long weekend pickups at the Lakefield flea market. Happy to find the first 4 issues of Mister X vol 2. Covers by Brendan McCarthy, Bill Sienkiewicz and Fiona Smyth! Excellent interiors by Shane Oakley and Ken Holewczynsk.

Canadian street-level vigilantes?

While developing my Toronto-based vigilante webseries Petit Demons, I realized most grounded vigilante mythology seems very tied to New York or the US in general.

Are there any Canadian street-level vigilantes/comic characters I should know about? Curious what already exists in that space.

We are now only a few weeks away from TCAF and the Doug Wright Awards. I’m hoping to take in both on Saturday and I’m hoping to arrange a meet up if anybody is interested.

Some fun Canadian comix in the archives.

Honestly, comix are not my thing... so I know very little about these. But always fun to come across Canadian stuff.

Did some reorganizing of box 1 of my Ken Steacy collection today. All his comic book format work full career.

The Second Magenta Frog

A friend is helping Katherine Collins clean out her apartment and they found a case of these. Front and back covers and some interior pages shown here. Unlike the first issue, this one is printed on a thicker newsprint stock. No page count, but it’s thicker and a little smaller than the first issue. Copies are new, but there’s a bit of warping on the lower part of some copies, as they were stored in the box standing up.

If anybody is interested in a copy of this, feel free to message me. All proceeds will go to Katherine. I believe the Beguiling will also have some copies for sale after TCAF.
