I have two specific questions. I have an Elgato 4k X. My motherboard has a USB-A 3.1 output. Will a cheap Ugreen adapter work well?

Second question: if I use a generic cable, the preview stays at 1080p60 on the primary monitor (LG 4K60), but if I move the 4K Utility window to the second monitor (Asus 1080p60), the preview becomes very choppy. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

I’m having a weird issue with my Elgato 4KS and Xbox Series X.

The Xbox works perfectly fine when connected directly to my monitor with a single HDMI cable, so the Xbox itself is outputting video correctly. However, when I route it through the Elgato, I get absolutely no signal. Not only does OBS/4K Capture Utility not detect it, but even monitor passthrough is completely black.

What’s weird is:

• The Elgato itself seems to work fine because I tested another source (my MacBook) through the capture card and it displayed normally.
• The issue ONLY happens specifically between the Xbox Series X and the Elgato.

Things I’ve already tried:

• Hard resetting Xbox
• Unplugging/replugging all HDMI + USB cables
• Different USB ports
• Disabling:
  • VRR
  • HDR
  • Dolby Vision
  • 120Hz
  • HDCP
• Setting Xbox to 1080p 60Hz
• Booting Xbox in low-resolution mode
• Reinstalling Elgato software/drivers
• Different startup orders
• Different monitor HDMI ports

Still no signal at all through the Elgato.
