1950s Cinderella

I’m rewatching Cinderella (1950), as an adult and I’m not sure I remember the beginning monologue at all from watching it as a child! It’s pretty straightforward and blunt instead of being poetic and lightened up for a kids movie, ya know? It’s read like a storybook, but still just like… the mom dies, the dad struggles with grief and raising a daughter alone so he remarries with stepkids, the dad dies, stepmother is bitter and abuses/neglects Cinderella and makes her be a servant after she bankrupts the family to spoil her daughters. BUT she’s kind and gentle despite this and dreams of being happy one day. … like damn that’s some trauma

LOL I’m trying to figure out if it was a change to the original or I just didn’t process what I was hearing as a kid. Even as my favorite show that I probably saw literally hundreds of times on VHS
