On July 2 at 12:40 PM, at the 56th kilometer of the Vologda–Novaya Ladoga highway in the Sheksninsky District of the Vologda Region—near the settlement of Nesterovo—a 55-year-old driver operating a Renault failed to ensure the safety of his maneuver while overtaking a Hyundai bus driven by a 29-year-old resident of Cherepovets. Consequently, his vehicle collided with a Chevrolet that was in the process of overtaking him, driven by a 45-year-old motorist. As a result of the collision, the Chevrolet was thrown into the left front wheel of the bus, and all three vehicles veered off the road into a ditch.

The bus driver managed to keep the vehicle upright on its wheels. After being towed out of the ditch, the bus continued its journey toward Cherepovets. At the time of the accident, there were 43 people on board. An ambulance crew provided first aid at the scene to nine injured individuals—comprising the three drivers and six passengers—who sustained abrasions and contusions. Five bus passengers—a 25-year-old woman, a 50-year-old woman from Cherepovets, a 74-year-old pensioner, an 18-year-old woman, and a 23-year-old man—are currently receiving outpatient treatment. Russia, Sakhalin Island

"The accident occurred on the Kholmsky Pass on Sakhalin Island. Roadworks are underway in this area—a trench has been dug across the roadway to lay a pipe.

According to eyewitnesses, the dump truck driver was traveling down the pass and, probably out of habit, drove straight along the old route, hit a trench, lost control, and veered into oncoming traffic at speed.

The truck sped past an oncoming shift truck, then crashed into a concrete barrier and fell off a cliff. The impact was so forceful that the front of the vehicle was literally torn apart, and the engine was thrown out.

The impact scattered parts of the car in different directions. According to eyewitnesses, one of the wheels was thrown toward a nearby gas station.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver survived, was in severe shock, but managed to escape from the cab on his own. The incident was captured on an eyewitness' dashcam."
