why do people hoard 2nd gen eclipses

i love the eclipse and im planning on getting one for my first car but everywhere i go i see people talking about how they had an eclipse and sold it or how they have multiple eclipses that all sit in their garages all day for like 10+ years

why not just sell them all together or try to fix them? demand is rising and i feel it will only get worse if it keeps going on like this

that being said would it even be a good idea for me to buy one? im 21 and working a pretty good job and i could have enough saved up in a month or 2 but the amount of work id have to put in seems like it would be too much BUT at the same time i feel like if i dont strike soon and just buy one the prices will eventually rise out of my grasp.

Back From the Dead

‘97 TSi AWD with 99k miles, now powered by a fully built ‘91 6-bolt and FP Green setup. Previous owner grenaded the original 7-bolt — two holes in the block — and even cracked the transmission bellhousing, so I had to source another trans as well. Currently tuned on 93 at 28 psi.

Originally a hardtop car, but at some point a previous owner hacked in an aftermarket sunroof 🤬. It’ll be getting a riveted delete panel soon. Still have a few cosmetic odds and ends to sort out, but it got a quick spit shine last night for today’s car show.

Ecmlink

Are we still using this? Looking and picking up a 1gb that I’m pretty sure has this still installed on. Not sure if I’ll be able to get the cable or the laptop as it’s sat for about nine years and the owner has passed. I’ve been out of the game for a mint but heard about Cobb and other guys getting shut down. Was esmlink affected and is this still pretty optional to use??

PTU alternative replacement?

Is there a better replacement than ebay PTUs? I have a constant misfire after the car warms up from the cheap ptu overheating. Ive looked at COP replacements, possibly denso plugs can be used. Would i need to run an aftermarket igniter or would I just need trigger signal from ecu?

Knock of death?

[UPDATE]

Hey everyone

so something weird happened. I went to turn the car on today and then I pumped the clutch pedal twice and the sound went away. Is that normal or what should I look for because I don’t think it fixed itself.

For some background, 2 days ago I noticed my car couldn’t go into boost so I hooked up the ECMlink and saw that my battery wasn’t giving enough juice (around 11.7V) the ground cable was shot and corroded so I changed it and the battery started giving about 14.0V. That’s when the noise started. Not sure if the context helps anyone who knows more than me.

Hey guys, this just started today after I changed a bad ground. Power was restored but now this. Is this the knock of death? One video is from the engine bay and the other from under the car

Need smallish 3.5lb item shipped from Canada to US

item is 1 shock absorber approximately 25.3"x2.6"x2.6" & weighs around 3.5lbs. Online retailer doesn't ship internationally. Somebody save my bacon. I have all the rest of my suspension components including the 3 other shocks to refurbish my suspension & just need 1 more shock that's only still available in Canada.
