I am really upset about the show closing, probably more than I should be (something to share with my therapist). I thought it would be nice to share what DBH means to me, and would love to hear any other stories you guys are willing to share, as well!
Death Becomes Her became one of my favorite movies since I was a kid. At the time, it just seemed like this really glamourous, absurd and funny story, a story that started to resonate with me as I got older, which made the movie all the more special.
I find out a musical is in the works, and with two of my favorite MT performers no less! I wanted to love the show so bad, but I was nervous it wasn't going to be any good. I, fortunately, had no reason to be nervous.
I remember it all! Compulsively checking Reddit after the first Chicago preview to see what people thought, and what this show actually looked like. The first bows in the blue and cherry red dresses. The first look pictures. The first listen to If You Want Perfection, Tell Me Ernest, and Alive Forever we got. I was hooked and happy.
I finally got to see the show last January, just a few days after Megan's departure, with Dee as Madeline. I made a bold choice and purchased tickets for Betsy's first show, I wanted to be in the room for that. Made an even bolder one and bought a second row center ticket for her second show, after which I shared a special moment with her and got to take a picture together (said picture is now sitting in my desk at work).
And now, I find out about the show closing. I'm baffled, as I think there were so many duos to see, and I was sure I was going to be there for it. My heart goes out to everyone involved, and I hope they enjoy this last month at the Lunt.
Being so emotional about this may seem weird, but this truly is such a special story to me. It taught me to be my own biggest fan, it taught me there's no shame in chasing beauty and having standards for yourself (as long as you don't forget about the inner part of it all), and most importantly, it taught me that you can still look hot after a broken neck and a hole in your stomach.
If you have any stories to share about Death Becomes Her and what it means to you, I'd greatly appreciate them right now.
And if this is a sad day for you as well, you're not alone.
I'd give it all to (NOT) have an ending.
I am so absolutely devastated about this, I can’t believe after everything it’s now coming to a close. While I am glad it’s going on tour, it will never be enough for me. I’ve listened to the songs everyday since I saw it, I remember all the tiktok sounds from it, and now it’s falling apart. I absolutely love everything about this show, it’s funny the songs are stunning and the entire show as a whole is so beautiful and maniacal at the very same time. Hope that someday it may get a revival of some sort even just off broadway. Gonna miss the cast being together and I can’t believe this is where the journey is ending. I’m sure you’ve heard this before but, I’m sad that it’s over but glad that it happened, and that’s the gut wrenching truth. I’ll always be waiting for new updates about this show, and if you want to see perfection go see it one last time! 💜💜
These are the moments that make life worth living...

(Since the number is so blurry, some people interpret her birthday as the 7th — which honestly is probably the more correct answer — but the delusional part of me wants to think she was born on the same day of the month as Madeline because of how the number is ever so slightly curved at the end and is written in a way that makes it look like a 9 lol. Regardless, she was born around this time of year! Happy birthday to our favorite author ❤️)
Hii!! Does anyone know when did Madeline and Helen die?? I'm writing a fic and I would love to know!!!!
