Long Story Short, a daily word game where you rephrase a 12-word sentence in exactly 5 of its words

Hi, I made this one. I've played Wordle-likes for years and always wanted to build my own, but I never had an idea that felt like mine.

The push came from a strange place. Half of what I read these days is written by AI, and it's never short. Every email, every doc, twelve words where five would do. At some point I said the phrase out loud, long story short, and realised it was a game.

So: you get a twelve-word sentence. You rephrase it in exactly five of its own words. Real English, same meaning, your job is to work out which words carry the sentence and which are just dressed up to look important. Scoring is Wordle style, blue for right word in the right spot, orange for in the answer but elsewhere, grey for out. Five tries, one sentence a day.

My wife and my brother were the playtesters. An early version let "the" beat proper words in the answer, which felt awful to lose to, so the answers now always favour the concrete word. That one change ate a whole weekend.

PARTLY agree

Pero that doesn’t absolve her for what she said to teachers.

Again they overlooked that the blame should be on responsible parenting and the system. Collective effort ang pagbabago pero we constantly go against with each other. As a result, a collective failure as adults.

Haaaay.

Kitang kita ang eagerness to learn. 🥹💕

I always thinking about this. Or experienced in the field na alam mong makakaintind at mauunawaan ang mga teachers. Lalo pa ngayon nagbabadya ang another du30 presidency, i wonder ano na naman kayang curriculum ang ipapaimplement sa mga kawawang tcs.

I blame the parents

This year, we have seen an increasing incidence of violence at school. I've read somewhere here in Reddit that existing na daw to before but hindi lang tayo aware kasi walang social media, pero it can't be denied na halos wala tayong shooting or stabbing incidents sa mga schools before; ngayon, sobrang dami na.

If you're a parent, it is your responsibility to raise your kids into a safe, productive member of the society. Pero i rarely see this now. Kids nowadays are being raised as entitled, spoiled brats with no sense of accountability and responsibility or any form of resilience. Parang di na uso yung discipline at home, and we just let our kids be na parang di na turuan kung ano yung mabubuting asal in public. Parents are refusing to take accountability in raising their kids with good manners and right conduct, and minsan ang parents pa mismo ang nagmo-model ng bad behavior and proud pa sila nyan to post on social media. Worse, teachers are being blamed for these students behavior, as if they're paid enough, eh konting discipline lang coming from a teacher, bashed agad sa social media by the parents.

I quit being a teacher and I don't have kids, and i am glad i did both.

Some people are worried about the drastic decline of population in the Philippines, pero i think how we're raising kids today is a much more risk for the future of humanity.

Thoughts nyo on this?

"In-demand" ang mga Math and Science Majors?

Hello po! Just a general question po

4th year student teacher here, BSED major in Math. Throughout my college journey and even now na student teacher na ako, almost everyday kong naririnig na "in-demand" at "kulang na kulang" ang mga Math and Science majors and kesyo "pag-aagawan" daw kami kagraduate. How true is this po based on your experiences, lalo na sa mga private schools (or even sa DepEd)?

Genuinely curious since I need to apply and gain teaching experience in private schools immediately after graduation for my future endeavors, but I observe na parang hindi naman ganun karami ang openings or teaching opportunities sa mga schools dito. Hopefully, I'll be proven wrong.

Thank you po in advance!

The best extra sideline while being a teacher

First of all, I'm still on my 3rd year of taking my bachelor's degree (Secondary Education, English Major).

So finally, my question is ano yung pinaka the best na sideline or maybe passive income na pwede kong gawin while being a teacher (private po muna ako, then later public)? Pandagadag income lang.

Another back story pala about sa akin, I would be the FIRST ever breadwinner na makakapagtapos sa family namin at panganay pa ako. The pressure is on me kasi ako yung inaasahang mag-aahon sa amin sa kahirapan.

So, please, if you have suggestions, let me know. I asked this early kasi baka may mga bagay na dapat akong simulan like may mga skill po na need sa suggested extra income nyo. I am willing to learn the skill as early as now.

THANK YOU SO MUCHHH

ps: idk if the pic is accurate, i just hope it gets your attention

LET SEPTEMBER 2026

r/DepEdTeachersPH Hello po Teachers, I'm aspiring to be a topnotcher this exam season yet I think I'm not that sure if I can do it. I'm currently enrolled in CBRC, I consistently top the mock boards, also a medalist during the latest National Quiz Bee. Do I have the chance to top the board?

Another thought of mine is my majorship which is Math, sa previous math majors po talaga po bang humirap po ang majorship natin? (Any tips po please)

PS: may offer po kasi sila sa university namin if topnotcher may work ka po agad and I'm thinking this is the only way to help my parents immediately since mag isa ko lang po and they're both senior citizens na :<

Can I still top the LEPT?

Good evening, teachers!

For context lang po: I'm a FreshGrad ng BSEd Science, Summa Cum Laude, ranked 2nd sa entire batch namin, consistent academic awards, and "pride" ng program kumbaga (IDK how to describe po huhu). Additionally, I have been working since June this year since I'm a DOST scholar and wanted to pursue Return Service as soon as I can kaya nag-apply na ng work.

Ang tanong ko po ay: Can I still topnotch even if I haven't done intensive review and am only starting a little over a month before the LEPT?

Due to work, hindi ko natutukan ang review ko though I'm enrolled naman po sa RC. I also have a review schedule pero sobrang tight niya (up to September 18, two days before the exam) although complete naman. The problem is, we took a formative exam kanina for ProfEd, GenEd, and Major and dude I feel like nasa line of 8 out of 100 lang scores ko sa lahat. Could it be because late na ako nag-seryoso and memorize? (esp. for GenEd)

Any tips, answer, or sampal ng katotohanan you can offer po?

P.S. I'm really feeling the pressure from my peers, former topnotchers ng university namin na kilala ako, faculty, and even myself. Kaya ko ba 'to? Salamat pos a any help huhu (desperate cries)

P.P.S. I don't want to sound entitled or out of touch or what, talagang need ko lang po talaga ng opinion ng iba kasi I've been overthinking so much :((

Need advice: Private school withholding Form 137 over auto-generated Grade 12 balance (Never enrolled or attended)

Hi everyone, especially to our DepEd teachers and school administrators here. First of all, I want to apologize for posting this here, but I am currently in a very difficult situation and I really need some advice regarding my Senior High School records.

I completed Grade 11 at a private school under the DepEd Voucher Program. For Grade 12, I decided to transfer to a public high school. I did not sign any Basic Education Enrollment Form (BEEF), did not sign any contract, paid zero fees, and never attended a single day of class at the private school for Grade 12. In fact, I was never encoded in the LIS under them for Grade 12, and my official Certificate of Registration (COR) shows a payment status of 0.00 with TBA class schedules. I am currently actively enrolled and attending my Grade 12 classes in my new public school.

However, when my public school issued an official Request Letter for my Form 137 / SF10, the private school registrar refused to process or transmit it. They claim I have an active portal balance of around ₱8,700+ because their system automatically rolled my account over for Grade 12. The registrar told me that since I didn’t formally "withdraw" or notify them, I am liable for the auto-generated fee, and even claimed that voucher students are required to finish Grade 12 in the same school (which I know isn't true under DepEd guidelines).

I know that under Civil Code Articles 1318 and 1157, no contract exists without consent, so an auto-generated fee cannot be a legal basis to hold records. Also, DepEd Order No. 54, s. 2016 mandates school-to-school record transmittals. Since the registrar is refusing to cooperate at the counter window, I am trying to figure out my best options.

For teachers, registrars, or SDO personnel here:

What is the most effective way to approach the Schools Division Office (SDO) Private School Unit / Legal Desk for an assistance request?

Should I file a simple Letter Request for Assistance first, or go straight to a formal complaint?

In the meantime, can I execute an Affidavit of Undertaking at my current public school so my Grade 12 standing/graduation won't be delayed while this transmittal issue is being resolved?

Again, I apologize for taking up space on this subreddit, but any insights or advice from people who have handled similar transmittal disputes would mean a lot to me. Thank you so much!

My idea how to address teacher shortage and constant class interruption due to heavy downpour in remote areas: institutionalize boarding schools

LET REVIEW WHERE TO START?

Hi po! Pagbati! I’m a science major and I’m planning to take LET exam next March 2027. I’m also currently working po pero maluwag-luwag naman ang time kaya gusto ko na magstart ng review.

But the problem is I don’t know where to start. Tinatry ko rin po to search on my own kaso naooverwhelm ako and doubting if tama ba ang ginagawa ko. Kaya sana po may makasagot.

Ed, Prof Ed, or Majorship?

 2. Anong books ang the best kong bilihin at pag-focusan? What are the must have reviewers?

 3. Any tips for effective review?

Mag-eenroll din po ako sa review center, pero gusto ko pa muna magstart on my own. Please po sana may sumagot. Salamat! 🥹

Class Suspension at ADM

Hello!

GRADUATED 8 YEARS AGO

Hi! I graduated BSEd Maj. in English 8 years ago. After that, life happened so never ko na talaga na pursue ang teaching profession. I worked in the corporate industry for 6 years (different companies) and I was diagnosed with psychotic depression and bipolar disorder and was on heavy medication and therapy for 2 years. I’m much better now and have been stable and off medication for the past 3 years. I mentioned this because everything that happened left me with ZERO retention for everything that I learned in college. As in wala. Now the thing about my corporate job is parang wala akong clear path. Like I have no specific direction on where i’m heading career wise so lately I have been considering taking a leap of faith and going back to my roots which is teaching. I want to pursue the profession and I want to do it with no shortcuts. Kaya gusto ko mag take ng Licensure Examination next year but I am not sure where to start in rebuilding my roots.

I am aware I simply can’t rebuild 4 years of knowledge (that was left sitting on a shelf for 8 years) in less than a year but that won’t stop me from trying. That said, any advice on where dapat mag start? Di na ako kaya ng refresher course so ano ba dapat gawin ng aspiring takers like me? And before I enroll, any suggestions on materials that I can use to self study? Please help your girl out
