Career prospects after Sorbonne DIGIT (Master CS) — how's the job market for international CS grads in France?

Hey everyone!

I'm an international student (Indian) starting the DIGIT program (Master in Computer Science – Digital International Program) at Sorbonne University, Paris this September. I'm really excited about the program but I wanted to get some real-world perspective on the job market before I dive in.

A few things I'm curious about:

1. Post-DIGIT career paths — What kind of roles do DIGIT/Sorbonne CS alumni typically land? I'm interested in computer vision, ML, and AI — are there good opportunities in Paris/France for these specialisations?

2. Employability rates — I've seen France has around 79.9% graduate employment rate (Eurostat 2024), which seems lower than Germany (91.9%) — is the CS market specifically better than that average?

3. Language barrier — How much does not speaking French affect your job search? I'm taking French classes but will only be at an intermediate level by graduation. Is English enough for tech roles in Paris?

4. International students specifically — After graduating, did you manage to get a work visa / APS (Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour)? How long did the job search take?

5. Salary expectations — What's a realistic starting salary for a CS/ML engineer in Paris fresh out of a Master's?

I'm currently finishing my undergraduate studies in Taiwan (on a government scholarship) before moving to Paris in September — so I'm doing my research early!

Any insights from current students, alumni, or people working in the French tech industry would be super helpful. I want to know if it's worth building my career here long-term or if France is more of a stepping stone!

Thanks in advance 🙏
