Severe dyshidrotic eczema flare at 33 weeks pregnant + steroid rebound. Need advice/alternatives!

Hi everyone,

I’m 33 weeks pregnant and my hands are in unbearable shape. I can barely bend my fingers.

Background:

Started as contact/atopic eczema

Used a topical corticosteroid for 3 weeks .(prescribed by a dermatologist)

After stopping, I hit a massive rebound/flare. Skin became paper-thin, wrinkled, red with blisters

Current Situation:

Deep, intensely itchy blisters spreading across fingers and palms.

Parts are weeping/moist;other parts are cracked and peeling.

Almost everything triggers new blisters— natural oils (like jojoba) ,vaseline trap sweat and make it worse.

Any safe tips for late pregnancy would mean so much. Thank you!

Neverending flare/scaling

Hi y’all,

I’ve just discovered that community and I’m putting all my hopes in you guys. I have an extremely bad case of DE on my right foot. It appeared first a year ago, lasted a few months, and was eventually solved after a weeks long treatment of prescription betamethasone ointment…

Only to be back this year with a vengeance. Summer and dry, hot weather, makes it particularly bad. I’ve just now completed a two weeks treatment of betamethasone cream again, and while the main original lesions have normalized, I noticed two new clusters of blisters just this morning. It’s depressing.

My foot is in such a bad shape. I have extensive scaling of extremely thick hardened skin all along both sides of my foot and part of the sole. I have crevices and cracks that hurt so bad. In between the topical steroids I moisturize religiously but the damage is so bad, it seems like doing nothing at all.

I can take the long healing but if new blisters appear the literal day I’m supposed to stop treatment… then what ? It looks like the corticosteroids don’t even work as well as they used to.

To top it all off my family GP has moved out of our area and I have to rely on urgent care doctors who change every time for now. Some of them don’t even seem to know what DE is ? But most importantly, I have no idea what causes those flares, I’ve switched up soaps a million times and only use one product to moisturize, which is pharmaceutical grade. I wondered for a while if I might have a silent fungal infection that could trigger it, but nobody doctor seems to think it’s the case and no testing was done. Plus a blister appeared on my my left hand finger last week so it doesn’t seem to be tied to one location.

Probably really bad method

When I can’t handle the itch anymore I get a towel and rub my finger like crazy and then I apply freaking diaper cream to all my open blisters 😭 hurts like hell after but the relief of the itch is almost orgasmic tbh
