A live-action adaptation no one asked for. I genuinely don’t understand why Hollywood is so obsessed with turning every beloved animated film into live action. Sure, when done right, it can work spectacularly—The Jungle Book, Pete’s Dragon, Cruella, and even Aladdin proved that there’s potential in the format.
But Tangled? I’m far from convinced.
The animated film has a very specific visual language, charm, and sense of magic that simply cannot be replicated by putting real actors into a live-action setting. The exaggerated expressions, vibrant world, and fairytale atmosphere are integral to what makes Tangled work. Strip that away, and you risk losing the very essence of the film.
Some stories benefit from reinterpretation. Others are already close to perfect.
Tangled is one of the latter. And honestly, it would be genuinely disappointing to watch a beloved piece of our childhood reduced to another unnecessary live-action remake.
