A recent post on this Enigma sub posted about Sandra’s I Need Love. As someone unfamiliar with Sandra’s work (she never really broke the UK) it was such a treat to come across what essentially sounded like another Enigma song! If I’m not mistaken, it also has Cretu’s vocals on it.
So this got me thinking, which other songs by Sandra sound like Enigma?
Hey, it's my first time posting on this sub. I wanted to share something concerning I've noticed about what I previously believed to be Michael Cretu's official YouTube channel.
Today I wanted to listen to some music by Michael Cretu, but I've noticed that "his" official YouTube channel is gone. I unfortunately suspect that someone was impersonating him. This so called "official" channel started seeming suspicious to me when they started uploading low quality "4K" videos and sloppy AI upscales.
For anyone else wondering what happened, here is my little investigation:
I've noticed that when the channel still existed, at the end of the videos, there was link to playlist called "Michael Cretu - Greatest Hits 2026" on other channel, which was called "AllMusic Official" but now is renamed to "MusicChannelVEVO", which honestly doesn't seem legit at all. They were posting some other artists there but now they started reuploading Michael's works (including Sandra's songs).
Everything leads to conclusion that this "official" channel was a scam. Please correct me if I'm wrong. It also changed names multiple times going from "Michael Cretu Official" to just "Michael Cretu" and finally to "Michael Cretu Offiziell".
My best guess is that the real rights holders eventually took action and began issuing copyright strikes, which is what brought the fake channel down. While I think it's a good thing that something was finally done about the impersonation, but some other channels like "EnigmaFanClub" or "alex2009j" have been suspened too. I understand that they want to protect their copyrights, but those channels had some songs or remixes which were not available from any official source. Some of that content still exists on other channels for now, but who knows how long that will last.
I'm genuinely sad and disappointed that I trusted this channel for so long. Does anyone know the full story, or have more context on what happened?
Edit: I've found statement from the EngimaFanClub channel confirming that this was indeed a fraud.
"SandraLand" channel was also taken down. Turns out that all the legitimate fan channels were taken down by the impostor through fraudulent copyright claims. What an absolutely disgusting behaviour.
