What do I do when I’m reading a book that isn’t in the app?

I’m currently reading a book that is not in the app since it came out yesterday

HI

Hi everyone! 😊

I’m currently working on my graduate thesis focused on UX/UI design and digital book clubs, and I’d really love to hear experiences from actual book club members/readers.

I’m researching:

  • what people enjoy about book clubs
  • frustrations with existing platforms/apps
  • online vs in-person discussions
  • moderation/community experience
  • what makes people stay or leave a book club

Some questions I’m especially curious about:

  • Do you prefer finding clubs through books/genres or through communities?
  • What annoys you most in online book clubs?
  • Do you prefer web platforms, Discord, apps, WhatsApp groups, Reddit, etc.?
  • What would make a digital book club experience feel more natural and less overwhelming?

Any personal experiences, frustrations, or opinions would help me a lot 🙏

Thank you!

Counting MK's Short Stories in Total Books Read?

Hey fellow OHA enthusiasts ☺️

I wasn't sure where to post this, and I checked the guidelines and I believe this counts as close enough to "staying on topic," but if the mods deem this to be too off-topic, feel free to delete.

I'm making my way through The Man in my Basement Takes One Step Closer Every Week and it is quite lengthy, so I was curious if anyone logs these short stories in Goodreads, Fable, etc? If so, how did you do it?

I'm partially reading the story and listening to a narration of it that I found in a masterlist of narrated r/nosleep stories, I believe. The narration is ~10hrs long, so I think that would qualify as long enough to count as a "book" 🤭 but maybe that's just me!

Dark Mode Android

It's been two months (I think?), where is dark mode for Android?

Not only does it enhance user experience, but dark mode is an accessibility issue. Please, please, please give us the update.

April reading wrap

Hi everyone! I’m new to this group and I wanted to share my April reading wrap! Even though it’s like the middle of May 😂
I read a lot in April. I was recovering from surgery and had a 2 week break from college and work. That’s why 😂
Also I’d love some new fable friends if anyone is interested!!

Is there a way I can fix my mistake?

I accidentally marked a book as finished before I was done, and then returned it to my currently reading list again, before finally finishing it soon after. Now I have it showing as read twice that month, and my books finished count is one higher than it should be.

Any Active Extreme Horror / Splatterpunk Book Clubs Here?

Just curious if anyone here reads extreme horror or splatterpunk 👀
I’ve tried looking for groups on Fable but most of the ones I’ve found seem pretty inactive/dead. Most book clubs I come across are focused on fantasy, romance, or general fiction, so I’d love to find people who are actually active and into darker horror books too.
Are there any active groups for the genre? If not would anyone be interested in joining one if I made one? It’d be nice to have people to actually discuss these books with because I feel a little alone in my reading taste lol.

Reading is much easier with FableApp!

After years where I read only technical books I discovered two things: ebooks and FableApp. Today I reached a milestone!

AUDIO books

Does anyone know if the app developers are working on being able to track audiobooks?? Is it on the radar? Something for the future??? I both read and listen to audio and I would love to have a clearer way to track both. I really like the social aspect of fable and I don’t wanna leave so I hope it’s a feature they bring sooner than later?

Looking for a specific book club/vibe (question)

I'll try to make this quick. I joined fable kind of recently. I don't know how to navigate the club section or even how to search what I'm looking for. Does anyone know of or how to look for a book club that focuses on small town detective murder mysteries? Talking the kind of old people murder shows like Midsummer Murders, Miss Marple, or Thursday Muder Club (book, not show, but same vibe)

Please help if you know how to search, because rn I'm just getting bombarded with 500+ "popular" clubs from influencers
