WC R2?

I've been dwelling between:

  1. choosing a good overall squad across all three fixtures
  2. targeting easy fixtures in MD1 (3xGermany, 3xNorway, 3x Spain) and wild card MD2 grabbing more Brasil, France, and overall good players with high chances of getting far

Also, using the 12th man first fixture if I wild card in 2nd, since we're getting unlimited transfers for the knockouts and most of the teams will have similar players then.

Overall Strategy Talk

My opinion for the best strategy:

GK+DEF

- Stacking GK+DEF: choose a team you think is going to have a clean sheet and take GK and a defender from that team. If the team concedes no goal you get clean sheet for 2 players. So whichever two GKs you have, you should also pick a defender from that team.

- Choose a GK with scout bonus that plays earlier and pair him up with a GK that has a higher chance to have a clean sheet e.g. Crepeau (CAN) + Simon (ESP). Play the early GK and hope for clean sheet+scout bonus. This doesnt work when the GK with scout bonus plays later e.g. Rochet (URU) + Simon (ESP), because you probably wont sub out Simon if Spain doesnt concede a goal.

- Focus on clean sheets rather than attacking Defenders, just easier to predict and more consistent points. (except Kimmich (GER), because he takes set pieces)

MID+FWD

- Focus on penalty kickers (bonus points if they get scouting bonus e.g. Rodriguez (COL).

- Choose one player from a team and not stack multiple offensive players e.g. choose between Ronaldo (POR) and B.Fernandes (POR) and not take both. This will increase your potential points.

- Take players with different match days, so you can swap your captain every day until you get a captain with a goal.

Boosters

- 12th man for day 1 or 2, because those days will probably be highest scoring e.g. Haaland (NOR) day 1 against IRQ.

- Wildcard for day 3. This allows you to make a perfect day 1+2 team and make a completely new team for day 3. There will be teams already guaranteed 1st place or in the next round so it might be hard to have a good team for all 3 days. Some players have their easiest matchup on day 3 and might still play for the next round so you can target more of these players.

- Max captain for playoffs. When you cant swap your captain much, getting captain right in the playoffs will be a game changer so having this booster in the latest stages should be the best way.

Honestly with so many teams at the WC there are so many players you could take. There will be many unique teams, which is fun. Remember go big or go home, dont play it safe 😄

World Cup 2026 Predicted Lineups: Group B

I’ve put together predicted lineups for Group B:

Canada

Bosnia and Herzegovina

Qatar

Switzerland

Each graphic includes fixtures and set-piece takers for Fantasy World Cup planning.

Interested to hear who people are targeting from this group, especially David, Xhaka, Afif and Embolo.

France

Do you guys think this is how French starting attack could look like? Barcola, Cherki seem to start from the bench. If I wanted the strongest starting XI I'd go with Olise, Dembele, Doue and Mbappe

Strategy for Captain swaps and thresholds for locking in

With the ability to swap your captain game to game as long as they haven't played yet, I'm Interested to get you guys thoughts around captain swap strategy and your personal thresholds for locking a captain in.

Example:

You captain your scouting bonus DEF who plays June 12th.

He plays 60 mins (2 points), with a clean sheet (5 points) + scouting bonus (2 points) for a very healthy return of 9 points giving you an 18 point captain return.

You then have premium MID/FWDs up over the next few days.

Do you swap captain and go for the higher ceiling or lock in the healthy return from your scouting DEF that paid off?

Personally my threshold to lock in a captain is double digits.

Is Calhanoglu fit?

He seems like a great pick considering he is in scouting bonus and is taking every set piece for Turkey.

Best offensive defenders for WC

Cucurella, Mendes, Kimmich are top picks for attacking returns for defenders in my opinion

Which other defenders should I consider from start?

Fantasy WC Scout: 5 under 5% (Vol.3)

Goalkeeper

Angus Gunn (3.6m; 1.6%)

Gunn is widely expected to be Scotland's starting goalkeeper at the WC. Scotland's opening fixture is against Haiti, following a 4-0 blitzing of Bolivia, where Gunn played 90 mins. At 3.6m he is likely one of the cheapest starting keepers at the WC (Dubravka Equivalent)

Defender

Manuel Akanji (5m; 4.9%)

Guaranteed starter for Switzerland, in a group where they are expected to finish first. Switzerland play Qatar, Bosnia and then Canada. Has the ability to chip in with the occasional goal and assist but wouldn't rely on them. Switzerland COULD take 3 clean sheets in the group stage.

Midfielder

Hakan Calhanoglu (7.1m; 2.6%)

A lock for Turkey, in a strong group, and Calhanoglu is their primary set piece taker. 22 goals and 19 assists across his 104 caps. Big game player. Turkey play Australia, Paraguay and USA.

Forward

Darwin Nunez (7.5m; 1.6%)

Starting striker for Uruguay. Many will remember him missing open goals for Liverpool. With the bonus and Uruguays fixtures he could be incredibly overlooked. Uruguay open against Saudi Arabia before playing Cape Verde and then Spain.

Bonus

Leroy Sane (7.4m; 1.3%)

Sane looks more attractive following Karl's injury. Has a tendency to start down the right hand side for Germany, minutes were less secure before Karl's injury. 5 goals and 4 assists in his last 15 national team games.

Anyone have a paid league I can join

Hello, does anyone have a semi small private paid league I can join? Most of my buddies aren’t into fantasy, so if anyone has room I’d love to join. Budget is probably 50-100$ but open to discussion. Would need to be added to a group chat or need some sort of verification that the money would be paid out lol since I don’t really know you all. Let me know, thanks.

How do substitutes work ?

Could some pls expain how substitution works in the game ?

Like can you change your players whenever you want ?

Or is your team locked for a match day ?

Or for a round ?

Like if for instance Japan is playing on the 14th, and France on the 16th, will I be able to put my Japanese players and then switch our for french in-between ?

Starting Lineup Discussion: Are you picking the matchup or the player?

I'm trying to determine between starting Vinicius Jr or Leroy Sane.
This is my starting lineup, I have Leroy Sane on the bench.
On one hand Vinicius is playing against Morocco in round 1, and on the other Germany is playing Curacao...
I think Vini is the better player but the matchup for Sane is much better.
Who should I start?

Strand Larsen is probably not going to start for Norway

I don't see how strand larsen is going to get picked over Haaland for Norway, it's no brainer to drop Haaland despite Strand Larsen performance, both play in same positions, i don't see the option they could play together either, i feel like picking haaland over strand larsen is the safe option

All World Cup predictors were buggy and ugly, so I've build a cool one

I've built this for friends only first, but it came around as a pretty cool app, so thought people might like it.

You can set up your own league with friends, or compete in a global one.

Implemented couple fun boosters like Joker card, Anytime Scorer, and more. Also bonus points for choosing correct winner, runner-up, top scorer and more

Let me know if you'd like to see something else or any comments!
