PSA: If Fintiba / Sutor Bank is holding your Blocked Account money hostage, DO THIS. (My 4-month nightmare solved in 72 hours)

Hey everyone,

I am writing this because I know exactly how stressful it is when your hard-earned money is stuck in Fintiba limbo, and I want to save you guys the months of anxiety I went through. If you are struggling with a blocked account refund after an embassy decision, stop wasting your time with their useless customer support and read this.

TL;DR: Waited 4 months for Fintiba to release my blocked funds. Ignored emails, useless calls, and fake Trustpilot replies. Finally complained directly to BaFin (The German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority) using AI to draft the legal complaint against their partner, Sutor Bank. Fintiba returned my money in less than 72 hours.

Here is my full timeline and exactly what you need to do:

Phase 1: The Trap (Jan - Feb)

  • January: Transferred my funds to Fintiba to open the blocked account.
  • February: Got my embassy result. I received the official embassy letter required to unblock/close the account, uploaded it to Fintiba, and submitted a standard closure request.

Phase 2: The Waiting Game (Month 1 - Month 3)

  • Month 1: I waited patiently for 3-4 weeks. I thought "German bureaucracy takes time, it's normal." I did not push or spam them with emails.
  • Month 2: Started emailing them. I just kept getting automated replies saying "we will answer in 2 days". I emailed them every single week. Nothing happened.
  • Month 3: Tried calling. Customer support gave me zero actual answers and just told me to keep waiting.

Phase 3: Useless Escalation I got furious and started leaving negative reviews on Trustpilot with my reference numbers. Their PR team actually replied to my reviews lying to the public that "the issue has been resolved." It absolutely was not.

Phase 4: The Nuclear Option - BaFin (June) By June, my patience was zero. I realized Fintiba is just a middleman and the actual money sits in Sutor Bank. So, I took the ultimate legal route.

  1. I used AI to draft a formal, legally structured consumer complaint in German against both Sutor Bank and Fintiba.
  2. I submitted this directly to BaFin (The German financial regulatory authority).
  3. I also went to Sutor Bank's Trustpilot and dropped a massive review mentioning my BaFin complaint (Sutor usually ignores normal emails, so you have to hit them where it hurts).

The Result: Within 72 HOURS, BaFin picked up the case. Suddenly, Sutor Bank (who never replied to me before) emailed me directly, apologizing profusely and throwing Fintiba under the bus.

Right after that, without me even sending Fintiba another email, Fintiba magically processed my refund and sent my money back to my account (minus the 4 months of maintenance and insurance fees, of course 🙄).

The Ultimate Guide on What You Should Do: If it has been more than 3-4 weeks since you uploaded your official embassy document, DO NOT just wait.

  1. Go to the BaFin consumer complaints portal
  2. Use ChatGPT/Gemini to write a formal complaint in German. State your Fintiba ID, Sutor Bank IBAN, dates of document submission, and clearly mention that they are withholding your funds without legal grounds.
  3. Submit the complaint specifically against Sutor Bank Hamburg.
  4. Watch how fast they can actually work when the government regulators breathe down their necks!

Fintiba: document upload page keeps refreshing back to homepage — anyone else?

Using Fintiba Plus (blocked account + Barmer bundle) ahead of enrolling at Uni Hohenheim, WS 2026/27. Barmer status shows “Waiting for Barmer Documents,” but every time I open the page to upload the required documents (the page in the attached picture), it loads for a second then auto-refreshes and dumps me back on the homepage before I can actually upload anything.

Already tried: different browser, different laptop, incognito mode, and the mobile app, same result every time. So it’s not a local/device issue, seems to be on their end.

Already sent a support ticket to Fintiba about it, but haven’t heard back yet. This is time-sensitive. My university enrollment deadline is August 1st, and I want the M10 notification sorted at least two weeks before that for peace of mind, so I’m cutting it close if this doesn’t get fixed soon.

Anyone run into this bug, or gotten support to actually fix it? Roughly how long did Fintiba take to respond to your ticket?

Fintiba Block account money refund

Hi, around 3 months ago, I had to close my Germany's fintiba Block account as the company had to do some internal reconstruction and I got my visa rejected.

Now I am waiting to get my money back and there is no progress...

Is anyone having the same issues?

Switching from Mawista to TK

Hello, I got private health insurance (Mawista) with my Fintiba Plus package. I want to switch it to public health insurance like TK for my university enrollment. I emailed Fintiba on Monday, but I haven’t heard back yet. I’ve seen people say that Fintiba can sometimes take months to resolve issues. Is there any way to speed up this process? Has anyone here switched from Mawista to TK through Fintiba? How long did it take?

Waiting for verification

I have blocked account from fintiba. I uploaded my anmeldung document and gave my iban number on my fintiba account. My dashboard is showing "we are checking your data" but the problem is that I uploaded the anmeldung a week ago and it’s still saying waiting for verification to verify my German address. How long does it take and I really need to access my money because I’m running out of money to stay in Germany. And how is legitimization done because I can’t see any option for it on the app.
Is there anything else I can do regarding my blocked account

3rd month with delayed payout - Worst company I've ever had to deal with

Fintiba has not sent me my payout yet, this is the third month in a row that I have been experiencing issues with them. It's really negatively affecting my studies as I am currently worried about money. When you call to ask about your payout they claim they have no control over that and that they sent an email and I have to be patient, sometimes they lie and give you a false promise just to end the call. When I wouldn't take any bs answers from them they just hang up on me. I honestly don't know how I am supposed to pass my exams or look for a job or have a social life with Fintiba ruining my life in Germany.

Fintiba didn’t pay out my money and now says my account has expired. What am I supposed to do?

I’m hoping someone can help me because I’m completely stuck.

I did not receive my monthly payout in May 2026. I always receive my payout at the end of the month, so when I noticed it hadn’t arrived, I immediately contacted Fintiba by email on 31 May 2026.

The problem is that they didn’t reply until 30 June 2026—a full month later.

Their response said that my account was in the “Waiting for Payment” phase because of insufficient funds received, and that my blocked account has now expired, so I need to close it.

This makes absolutely no sense.

I extended my blocked account around October 2025. After extending it, I deposited the required amount, and Fintiba even charged me the €89. Everything appeared to be processed successfully.

So how can they now claim there were insufficient funds and that my account has expired?

To make things worse, I’m currently not in Germany, so I can’t simply call them. Email support has been absolutely useless. And I can’t just take a plane to Frankfurt to confront them.

They also told me I now need to close the account. However, to close it and get my remaining money back, I need a release confirmation from the Ausländerbehörde. The problem is that none of the situations Fintiba lists for obtaining a release confirmation apply to me, so I don’t know how I’m supposed to get one.

I have other friends whose situation are almost the same. Only they have not been told to “close” their account and instead they were told to refill it to be able to extend it.

Has anyone experienced something similar? How did you resolve it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated because I honestly don’t know what to do next.

**Extremely Urgent – My Student Residence Permit Is at Risk**

I have been waiting for a long time for Fintiba to issue updated **Blocked Account** and **Health Insurance Confirmation** documents. These are the only documents I need for my residence permit renewal.

Despite sending multiple emails and repeatedly calling customer support spending money I can barely afford as a student I have received no resolution. My immigration deadline is approaching, yet Fintiba continues to ignore my requests.

This level of customer support is unacceptable, especially when students' legal status depends on receiving these documents. I urgently ask Fintiba to address this issue.

Is Anyone experiencing this issue???

Question regarding Passport verification

I have been using Fintiba for more than a year now. Everything went well, and everything was okay. Until April, I received an email saying that a passport update verification was required. Now, after I uploaded the passport details, I have had this page for more than 1 month. I can't see my account details, and I am not sure whether it would affect my monthly payment as well.

One thing is for sure, I've contacted them by both email and Phone call, but all I get is basically either "we will go with you again" or just a polite reply saying "we are sorry for the delay in answering you quickly.
Please give us a little bit more time to process your ticket XXXXXXX adequately "

Fintiba Blocked Account Help

I am an Indian student who is under 18 until the first quarter of next year trying to open a Fintiba Blocked Account to start my Bachelor's Degree. I am facing a huge issue when it comes to the document verification process as the digital verification from their side is not accepting the Indian passport as valid Identity proof. Since Fintiba is the only major online bank that has such accommodations for minors, I cannot chose a better alternative. This is the financial proof required for my visa and my university hasn't been able to help much in this regard. Has anyone else managed to overcome these kinds of issues or find any alternative identity proofs?

Fintiba Support Has Been Holding My Documents Hostage for Over a Week 😭

I’ve been a Fintiba customer for years, and honestly, their customer service used to be amazing. My siblings are customers too, and I’ve recommended Fintiba to countless international students because I genuinely trusted the service.

Fast forward to now…

I submitted an urgent support ticket because I only need updated issue dates on my confirmation documents for my residence permit renewal. I was told it would take 24 hours.

That was over a week ago.

Since then, the only responses I’ve received are automated emails saying:

“We need a little bit more time 🙂”
That smiley face is starting to feel personal.

I’m not asking for a refund. I’m not asking for a complicated investigation. I’m literally asking for UPDATED DOCUMENTS! 😭😭😭 that are preventing me from renewing my student permit.

At this point, I feel like my documents have entered another dimension where time moves differently.

If anyone from Fintiba happens to see this…
Please. For the love of God. Release my documents. 😭

Fintiba plus package automatic M10 notification sent to university

Hello everybody!

I just updated my university status on my Fintiba portal and input the semester start date and then a message saying the M10 notification will be sent to my university automatically popped up. And now i'm waiting for proof that it did to complete my enrollment. The thing is that nothing in my portal shows it is processing.

Did anyone use this Fintiba plus package functionality? please share your experience et let me know how long it took for the university to confirm they received the M10, and whether you had to do further steps for that.

My account has already been fully funded, and I submitted all the requested source of funds documents on June 16. Today is June 26, and my blocked account verification is still under review.

Verification issue

I haven't travelled yet, I just created my account.
Now I have to enter my data and confirm it, but I have been facing this problem since a while and I really don't know how to deal with it.
My choice of Fintiba doesn't really seem to be a missionary. Does this happen to everyone? Or at least who has an idea about this?
