How to increase the maximum height of a glyph?

This time, I brought some prints to explain what I mean by that. My font has accented letters, but if I put an accent like this, it will collide with the previous line's letters.

And since it's based on the medieval chancery script, the letters may descend way lower than modern letters. As an example, I'm showing you the letters p, q, x, w, y, z and ç.

So I'm searching for a way so that letters do not collide, making it easier to read. I tried increasing ascending and descending height on font info, but it didn't work properly. Is there any way to help me with this?

EDIT: I discovered what the problem actually was: FontForge was scaling my glyph so it could maintain the same size as before. I just needed to use CTRL A + CTRL Z to get them in their previous size, but with the new maximum height. Thank you for everything.

How do I increase maximum height of a glyph?

I want to increase the maximum size of a glyph so I can make bigger glyphs, but I'm not able to. I tried changing the ascending and descending heights, but it didn't change a thing.

how can i easily scale 5.000 letters before importing to fontforge?

hi hi! im new to this and wanna turn my boyfriends handwriting into a font for our digital diary! ive been sitting here 5 hours so please help me..

so far what ive tried is making a 1000x1000px square in inkscape with a 1000x200 rectangle at the bottom to visually help me with that lower line for the low letters like g, y etc.

i put my letter and scale it, export it as a plain svg file and all but as soon as i import it to fontforge the letter fills the entire glyph square, including the lower space for the low letters.. i know that i can scale my letters in fontforge directly but lets be real, doing that in fontforge is time consuming, especially for 5k letters. for me, as a beginner, inkscape has a much easier interface and i would love to make this work. ive seen this method in a youtube video but somehow i seem to do something wrong..

i appreciate all the help, at this point im just desperate for any information
