I wanted to use OCP Art Studio again after 40 years, but I didn't have the plastic Lenslok. So I built a web decoder.

Back in 1986, on a CZ-Spectrum (a local Argentine clone), I fell in love with Art Studio. Decades later, I wanted to revisit my retro pixel art roots on an emulator, but I hit a wall: I didn't have the Lenslok prism to get past the copy protection.

Simon Owen built a brilliant C++ Windows utility (LensKey) to solve this years ago. Since I'm on a macOS environment and wanted something without dependencies, I extracted his original mathematical transformation matrices and ported the whole thing to a modern, client-side web.

It's completely free, runs locally in your browser, and handles the screen capturing workflows smoothly.

You can use it here directly: https://www.bustelo.com.ar/apps/lenskey-web/index-en.html

Or check the source code on GitHub: https://github.com/sbustelo/lenskey-web

Huge thanks to Simon Owen for the original reverse engineering. Hope this helps someone else trying to play Elite, Tomahawk, or Art Studio today :)

#StopPayingGames

This is self explanatory; to all who do not support the idea of player ownership, there shall be no further funding, regardless of their game's quality. #StopPayingGames until they #StopKillingGames by not buying any new or existing products that you do not already own. You can do this regardless of your country; play what you already have access to, and buy nothing else until there are proper legislations against this malpractice - and that also includes applying them to stores like Steam.

Disclaimer: Nintendo and Epic Games have not exactly voiced an opposition, and hold positive values from what conversations have pointed in the comments, so take their placement on this list with a grain of salt.

To answer everyone's constant question of 'Why is XYZ on this list' it's because these companies are implicated as opposition to SKG's proposals (VGE or ESA lobbying).

KOSA to be voted on in the House next week

hi everyone, as you all know age verification/identity verification is a major threat to fandoms but speech, information, and privacy as a whole.

KOSA has been put in a package called the KIDS Act, which has 19 bills (a majority which are age/identity verification bills). it's being voted on in the House on Monday at 6:30 pm.

there is already a lot of controversy around this bill due to KOSA, many pro-KOSA orgs not liking the House version taking out the "duty of care" portion (which makes this 'weaker' on censorship) but many anti-KOSA orgs also not liking the other 18 bills that are pro-age verification. TLDR; this entire package is a mess and should be stopped from moving forward

actions to take:

  • call your House member! use either https://www.badinternetbills.com/ or call 202-224-3121 to connect.
  • sign the open letter against the KIDS Act. i'm part of a discord server that has been fighting this for 5 years and we are planning on sending this directly to the House and Senate

and lastly, spread the news!! this vote is imminent and we need as much backlash as possible. contact influencers, people who are popular, idk just anyone who could help spread this!
