Hey everyone,

I've just realized how much of a nightmare the train situation is going to be due to the construction work between Düsseldorf and Cologne. Basically the entire north of Cologne is affected - even areas as close as Leverkusen.

In my specific case, I would have to walk 20 minutes to "Leverkusen Mitte" station and then take buses directly to Gamescom, or head to Manfort to catch the RB48/RE7, which both seem to be running.

I do have a backup hotel booked in Sindorf. The downside is that switching to that hotel would cost me around €300 more. In Sindorf, I can simply walk 8 minutes and have access to the S19, which seems to be running normally. However, as Sindorf is farther away from Cologne, the train journey itself also takes 27 minutes. Another downside is that the Sindorf hotel has no fridge, so I might also end up eating overpriced food at Gamescom.

So I'm wondering if my alternative idea makes any sense:

Stay in Leverkusen and simply take an Uber to Gamescom every day.

I've checked Uber prices at random times, and they're currently showing roughly €17–30 for the trip. Obviously Gamescom isn't happening right now, so I assume prices could be significantly higher due to surge pricing.

During Gamescom, I'm guessing there will be a huge number of people trying to get Ubers at around the same time. Is it realistic to expect that I can just open Uber in Leverkusen in the morning and actually find a driver willing to take me to Gamescom?

I really don't want to stay in Leverkusen and then discover that there are basically no Ubers available after Gamescom, leaving me stuck with the replacement buses anyway. 😂

So what would you guys recommend?

Option 1: Stay in Leverkusen, gamble on Uber every day, and potentially spend €50–80+ per day depending on surge pricing.

Option 2: Pay the extra €300 for Sindorf and have a much more predictable train connection.

Has anyone here actually stayed in Leverkusen during Gamescom and used Uber/Bolt/taxis to get to the Messe? How bad is the situation in practice?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey, I'm going to gamescom for the first time, and I was wondering if your allowed to bring food, water, etc in your bag, or if they confiscate it when searching your bag (if they do) And what are things your not allowed in general to bring?

Ich bin bald das erste mal auf der Gamescom. Was muss ich beachten und was sollte ich vor allem nicht tun (Ein sehr kluger mann hat mir mal gesagt, ich solle unter keinen Umständen am Fortnite Stand in eine Tüte AA machen)?

I was really busy these past few weeks and completely forgot to buy my Gamescom tickets, even though me and my friend already bought our DB tickets to get there. Of course, I finally went to buy the tickets and… Saturday was sold out. 💀

Yeah. I feel absolutely terrible.

Is there anyone who might be selling Gamescom tickets for Saturday and would be willing to transfer/change the date on them for us? (IDK how it works exactly)

We’re looking for 2 regular tickets or 2 reduced tickets, or any mix of both since we are students.

Ich hab dieses Jahr das erste Mal ein cosplay. Es ist aber nichts krasses, ein fertiges ohne waffen etc. vom online Shop. Kann ich damit durch den normalen Eingang?
Weil in Regeln steht was vom separaten cosplay Eingang.

Hallo zusammen,

ich bin zum ersten Mal auf der Gamescom bzw. dem Messegelände. Ich reise am Dienstag zur Opening Night und übernachte eine Nacht. Am Mittwoch geht es auf die Gamescom per Wildcard, abends dann wieder über Köln Messe / Deutz nach Hause.

Nun bin ich mir unsicher, wie und wo ich meinen kleinen Koffer sicher während der Gamescom ablagern kann.

Schließfächer scheint es wohl nicht auf dem Messegelände zu geben. Hab allerdings gelesen, dass man in der Garderobe wohl sein Gepäck abgeben kann. Hat hier jemand Erfahrungen und kann dies bestätigen oder kennt andere Möglichkeiten?

Ich selbst war letztes Jahr auch das erste Mal auf der Gamescom. Auch alleine. Und dieses Jahr werde ich wieder hingehen. Wieder alleine.

Es gibt dieses Jahr aber auch wieder den Gamescom discord. Dort kann man auch spontan am Messetag reinschreiben ob man sich z.b. in halle 8 treffen will.

Just saying. So klappt es vlt noch besser Leute kennenzulernen.

also ich weiß ja, dass es bei der Gamescom um Games geht, aber was genau ist denn da wirklich? Kenne mich da nicht so wirklich aus seit meiner Kindheit, aber ich würde neue Sachen gerne mal ausprobieren.

Was macht man denn da so und wie ist eure Erfahrung?

I'd like to know if nunav is good. I hear mixed reviews and i am scared now. I am driving all the way from the netherlands and if i can't reserve a parking spot i will be using that app..

Also on the other side, reserving spots, i also hear mixed reviews.. like people having reserved their spot but still unable to enter because people got in illegally.

May it be better to just use public transport? We have a hotel nearby

Hi everyone. I'm driving from Dusseldorf to Gamescom on the Friday. I was wondering if anyone wants a lift - I have 2-3 spaces available and I have also booked a parking spot directly across from the entrance to Koln Messe.

For context - I'm 30M, English speaking (limited German) and currently live in Dusseldorf. Never been to Gamescom before so it's my first time and I'm going alone. I enjoy listening to metalcore (important for the ride haha).

If you are looking for a way to get there and back on the Friday let me know. I would be planning to arrive just after 9am and would aim to leave near closing.

ich möchte spontan am 29. zu der Gamescom fahren und würde alleine hingehen. Da ich aber ehrlich gesagt keine große Lust habe, den ganzen Tag alleine herumzulaufen, wollte ich einfach mal fragen, ob sich vielleicht jemand oder eine kleine Gruppe findet, der ich mich anschließen könnte.

Ich bin weiblich und 27 Jahre alt. Mir ist eigentlich egal, ob ihr schon eine feste Gruppe seid oder ob sich einfach mehrere Leute spontan zusammentun. Ich würde mich freuen, ein bisschen Gesellschaft zu haben.

Hab auf der Website jetzt mehrfach gesehen wo die NUNAV App empfohlen wird für Autofahrer wegen Parken und der Hinfahrt. Ist die wirklich so gut oder kann ich auch einfach Google Maps nutzen?

Oder gibt es auch seperate Eingänge für Menschen mit Behinderungen?

Hello, I have a question. I am going to the gamescom on Thursday (the first day) with my sister. I wanted to visit the metro 2039 booth. How long do you think the waiting time is, because it's too long like over 5 hours, I am going to buy a second ticket for Friday just to look at metro 2039.

I want to spend the Tuesday with my sister and want to look at the whole convention (especially the market and the Indi stuff).

What do you think, should I just buy the second ticket, just for metro (because I have to see/play it there and because it's 18+ the both will be covered so kids can't see stuff, at least that's the way it was from 2014-2016)).
