Guerilla Globasa (aŭ "Demando por Globasanoj") [en Eo k IA]
Leginte la fadenon de Responsible-Low-5348 ("A question for Esperantists") mi meditis iomete pri la jena plendo de u/Vanege.
>Complaining that Esperanto is too Eurocentric to be an IAL while using English (so worse than Eurocentric) in an international forum is the weirdest and most hypocrital thing to do.
Kaj pri la sarkasma respondo la aŭtoro de la fadeno:
>Oh sorry my native language is English. My bad. I’ll go back and change it real quick.
Estas klare, ke oni ne povas ŝanĝi la denaskan lingvon, sed certe eblas ŝanĝi la nunan konduton. "Doing something about it" ja eblas. Mia propono en la fadeno (parte responde al la komento de Vanege) estis "lernu kaj uzu Esperanton." [/Eo]
[Interlingua] Io nunquam voleva apprender Interlingua. Io ha apprendite lo presque contra mi volo. Como io ha apprendite lo? In un foro como iste subreddit, le Interlinguanos ha scripte in Interlingua, mesmo si le altere persona non lo ha requestate. Por comunicar con le Interlinguanos, io debeva leger lor lingua.
Esque io ha comprendite toto? No, sed illes adjutava me in iste modo. Illes ha includite notas in le texto ipse in iste modo: "Quando [kiam] vos non comprende, vole ben dicer lo".
Esque le Globasanos non pote facer alique similar?
short word forms
While trying to figure out what word might work for laptop in Globasa, I was inevitably confronted with the topic of short word forms.
Many languages have borrowed the English word laptop, while others have borrowed the word notebook. Borrowing laptop could potentially work in Globasa, but as a modern technological word it would have to be rendered as laputopu rather than as laptopu (Swahili), since we can't really consider it a culture-specific word. In contrast, a word such as koktel is, by Globasa's standards, borderline culture-specific since it belongs to the food/drink category and the English word, or a calque of it, has been borrowed by almost every language.
At any rate, I think a better option for laptop is to use the calque compound daftari-komputer (notebook computer). It's a long compound, though, and considering this is a frequently used word, a short word form would be convenient. So far, the short word forms peke (personli komputer) and teve (televisi) have been suggested. However, it occurs to me that using the short letter names as syllables to create short word forms might easily lead to undesirable minimal pairs. Also, speakers might be tempted to pronounce these words as initialisms, stressing each syllable: PK and TV. I think initialisms should be reserved exclusively for proper nouns and perhaps some abbreviations.
So for short word forms, I think it might be better to use the actual syllables within the root or compound: perkom for personli komputer and tevi for televisi. That would give us dafkom for daftari-komputer. Anyway, this is worth experimenting with.

When you want to explain how to write an unknown name, a word, or a code, you often need to spell it out (to say the letters one after another).
> Denwatu hu yu vole na xomin ku kemaner na eskri nenkonedo name, lexi or kodi, yu pimpan haja na harufi to (na loga un harufi xafe un alo to).
Each letter of Globasa has an official name that can be used for spelling. See the table below. There is also a short variant.
> Moyun harufi de Globasa hare resmi name hu yu abil na yongu da cel na harufi. Am oko tabel fe infer. Pia hay kurto aloopsyon.

However, these names are easily confused: if you accidentally type "ife" instead of "ige", or if several people are speaking at the same time, or if the sound quality is poor.
> Mas, den name asan bekonhwoku: eger yu maltaypu "ife" fe tayti fe "ige", or eger plu person loga samawatu, or eger soti-kwalita sen bur.
When errors are dangerous, a better list of names can be used. These names have more internal redundancy, which means the word (and therefore the letter) can still be recognized correctly even if part of it is misheard.
> Denwatu hu malxey hatari, maxmo bon lista fe name ger beyongu. Name hare max inli ricu, hu da mena ki lexi (ji fe folo harufi) haji sen rukoneible hata eger bage de to bemalore.
The criteria / Plu xarti
I built such a list using these criteria:
> Mi le krea denpul lista yon plu xarti:
1. The word must start with the letter it is trying to communicate.
> Lexi am xoru yon harufi hu da musi na bekomunika.
2. It must have a length of two syllables (the fixed length helps the listener to notice the start of a new letter. Two syllables is ideal for enough internal redundancy without making the list impractical).
> To musi hare lungoje fe dua leximon (kostante lungoje sahay oreyen na xorjui xoru de neo harufi. Dua leximon sen ideal cel kufi inli ricu wal na fale lista posasan na yongu).
3. Ideally, the second syllable starts with the same letter.
> Ideal, duayum leximon xoru yon sama harufi.
4. Ideally, the two syllables are not identical (if the first syllable is misunderstood for some acoustic reason, the second syllable will maybe avoid the problem).
> Ideal, den dua leximon no sen sama (eger unyum leximon bemalaham kos sotili seba, duayum leximon xa ible jularesta problema).
5. The stress must be placed on the first syllable, or on the second syllable if it starts with the correct letter (the stress must fall on the letter you are trying to communicate).
> Enfasis fe unyum leximon, or fe duayum leximon eger to xoru yon sahi harufi (enfasis musi na sen fe harufi hu am bekomunika).
6. The word must not form a minimal pair with any other word in the list.
> Lexi musi na no hare minimum duaxey ton alo lexi in lista.
7. There should be a minimal amount of minimal pairs with words that are not in the list (not everyone knows the list, and not everyone will use the same words), so "magma" is better than "mama".
> Kwanti fe minimum duaxey ton he ban lexi ex lista musi na sen minimum (no moyte kone den lista, ji no moyte xa yongu sama lexi), fe folo, "magma" sen maxmo bon kom "mama".
8. The word must not be a number, because codes and addresses often contain letters and numbers together.
> Lexi musi na no sen numer, koski kodi ji adresu pimpan inhare mharufi ji numer tongo.

(1) The alternative "bebe" is too similar to "pepe", so people who don't know the word for "p" might think you try to spell "p".
> Aloopsyon "bebe" godomo sim "pepe", fe folo ren hu da no kone seletido lexi cel "p" ger fikir ki ren xidu na harufi "p".
(2) Two identical syllables, but I could not find anything better.
> Dua sama leximon, mas mi le no sukses na ewreka maxmo bon lexi.
(3) No repetition of "r", but I could not find anything better without a minimal pair.
> No hay ricu fe "r", mas mi le no sukses na ewreka maxmo bon lexi wal minimum duaxey.
I think the list can be very useful, and I will try to memorize it. I encourage you to do the same. Feel free to change a few words if you find better ones. We don't need to use the exact same list. In the end, the only goal is to be understood.
