Gold has had a massive move, crossing the ₹16,000/g mark in India.

The biggest catalyst came from the US bond market.

The US 30-year Treasury yield had climbed to around 5.3%, raising concerns about higher borrowing costs for the US government.

Then came the announcement:

🇺🇸 The US Treasury said it would double the size of some long-term bond buybacks — from $2 billion to at least $4 billion per operation, covering 10–30 year maturities.

The announcement triggered a sharp move in Treasury yields:

📉 10Y yield → ~4.65%
📉 30Y yield → ~5.2%

Why does this matter for Gold?

Gold doesn't pay interest. So when bond yields fall, the opportunity cost of holding Gold comes down, making it relatively more attractive.

Add a weaker US dollar and concerns around US debt, and Gold got another boost.
