I repeatedly emailed and followed up with an national institute for admission ( pareshan ho gye), and now I’m not taking the admission — can I face any legal action?

I was initially unable to complete my admission at an NIT due to an unforeseen family medical emergency. Because of this, I sent several emails/messages to the concerned authorities requesting them to consider my case.
Today, my application was finally approved, but the concerned authority has not given me further instructions yet. The problem is that today is also the last date to take admission at another institute, which I am now planning to join.
I have also sent several follow-up messages because I was genuinely worried about losing both opportunities. One person even told me not to message again because I was “wasting my time and energy.”
Now I'm worried: Could repeatedly contacting the NIT or withdrawing/not joining after my application was approved lead to any legal action against me? I have not committed any fraud or submitted ( only mailed the correct documents) not false documents .I was genuinely dealing with a family medical emergency.
Has anyone faced a similar situation? What would be the safest thing to do now? Please give advice
