Looking for a host & a place to keep my backpack in Manali (Solo traveler)
Hey everyone!
I'll be reaching Manali soon as part of my 3-month solo backpacking trip across the Himalayas. I'm looking for someone who could host me for a short stay and/or let me keep my backpack/luggage at their place while I head out on treks. I don't want to carry all my gear into the mountains.
I'm a genuine backpacker and trek leader with experience trekking and mountaineering across the Himalayas. Happy to verify my identity, share my social media, or meet in person first if that makes you more comfortable.
If anyone can help or has any suggestions (hostels, cafés, gear stores, etc. that offer luggage storage), I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance! 😊

I'm training for the Himalayas and currently hitting a wall with the logistics. Looking for community support to get me to the finish line
I’m reaching out because I’m at a point in my life where I’m ready to push myself beyond my comfort zone. I’ve officially set my sights on the mountains and have registered for the Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC).
This journey is about more than just a course; it’s about testing my grit, building discipline, and developing the skills needed for high-altitude endurance. It’s a dream I’ve been working toward for a long time, but as a student, the costs associated with the training specifically gear and logistics are a significant hurdle.
I am currently working to save as much as I can, but I am looking for support from anyone who believes in chasing these kinds of ambitious goals. I don’t have a specific funding target in mind; any contribution, big or small, helps me get one step closer to the summit.
I’m looking to connect with people who can help me bridge the gap to make this experience possible. In return, I’m committed to documenting my progress and sharing what I learn from the mountains with all of you.
If you’re interested in supporting my journey, feel free to DM me. Even if you aren’t in a position to contribute, I’d love to hear your advice on preparing for the BMC or any tips you might have for a first-timer heading to the Himalayas.
Thank you
What’s a good upgrade from Quechua MH100 for Sahyadris, Himalayan treks, and beginner mountaineering?
hi! im looking to upgrade my shoes and need suggestions from people who have gone through a similar progression~
first and current shoes: quechua mh100 mid in size 3
ive been wearing and loving these since 4 years now. did many many big and small sahyadri hikes, random hikes in himachal, EBC and kala patthar in these. i love their grip on ascents, support, comfort, durability and waterproofing. never had a severe blister problem. got used to the weight pretty quick, im not even sure if these are considered light or heavy lol. sahyadri descents can be brutal with loose soil so as a beginner i did struggle and felt there are better anti skid options out there that dont smash your toes. other regions felt better because of different terrain and trekking poles. they’re not as worn out but i can see that happening now and dont want to risk future adventures. one of the metal lace hooks is out and decathlon folks said any fix would only be temporary and not reliable.
future adventures (upcoming and spanned across a few years) : regular sahyadri treks, kilimanjaro, uttarakhand, himachal and ladakh region treks, kang yatse 2, dzo jongo, friendship peak, mera peak, island peak and more if the mountain gods are willing!
im a size 3 or 4 in womens’ depending on the brand so looking for ones that have good fitting shoes in smaller sizes. most of the expedition style beginner treks do provide boots for summit days on rent etc hence a versatile shoe that helps with training on local treks + can handle some snow and accessories would be my best option. budget is not really a problem but as a beginner this would be my first upgrade so looking for affordable/ value for money options.
any tips/ recommendations are appreciated! thank you!
