Hey everyone,

I’m looking to buy a new Shimano 23 Stradic spinning reel for bass fishing. A buddy told me I could save a bunch of money and get cooler options if I ordered it directly from Japan using sites like Digitaka or Japan Lure Shop.

I checked out the sites, but the model numbers and spec sheets look like a totally different language and I am completely overwhelmed.

Here is what I am trying to do:

• Target: Bass fishing (mostly standard soft plastics, drop shots, wacky rigs).
• Line: I want to run 12lb braided line as my main line.
• Rod: Putting it on a standard 7-foot Medium power spinning rod.

I keep seeing models like 2500SHG, C2500SXG, and C3000 listed on their charts, and the line capacities are all written in "PE" numbers and meters instead of standard US pound-test.

Can anyone dumb this down for me?

• Which specific model code should I actually buy if I just want a fast reel that fits a standard 150-yard spool of 12lb braid perfectly?
• What do the "S", "C", and "XG" letters actually mean in the real world?
• Is buying from Digitaka or Japan Lure Shop safe/legit for someone in the US, and how bad is the shipping time?

Really appreciate any help. I don't want to accidentally order the wrong thing from across the ocean!
