We are just money

This Is frustrating, painful and upsetting…. If you have this experience don’t keep it for yourself sharing is impactful in this community….

What is deeply frustrating and honestly heartbreaking about many ketamine clinics is the complete lack of empathy and genuine mental health care they provide to vulnerable patients.

These clinics often market themselves as life-changing mental health providers, yet many seem more interested in selecting “easy” patients and maximizing profit than actually helping people who are severely struggling and need real professional support. The moment a patient becomes emotionally complex, difficult to manage, or requires additional compassion and guidance, the level of care suddenly disappears.

The interaction frequently feels cold, transactional, and robotic: place the IV, monitor the clock, send the patient home. There is little emotional support, little follow-up, little therapeutic integration, and almost no sense that the patient is being treated like a human being going through profound psychological suffering.

Patients seeking ketamine therapy are often dealing with depression, trauma, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, or years of treatment resistance. This is not cosmetic medicine or a luxury spa service. These are human beings in pain looking for hope, stability, and compassionate care.

Mental health treatment without empathy becomes nothing more than a business transaction, and many clinics should seriously reflect on the ethical responsibilities they claim to uphold…….

San Antonio clinics, online companies are just money makers…. And I know, I read about Tx being the worst place to live dealing with this situation…

Hi I’m wondering if this is common or as insane a she seemed. I was at a spravato clinic receiving therapy and near the end of appointment I heard a lot of talking. My therapist then let me know there was an event happening, and that guests were arriving. She seemed surprised and upset. When I left there was a full party, people coming in the elevator, name tags on. I found the event online and saw that guests were invited to arrive 1.5h into my 2h appointment.

Is it common for these places to be this unprofessional and aloof?

Innerwell: Stay Away!!!

Innerwell offers at home oral ketamine (you take lozenges and swirl them around in your mouth until they dissolve, spit that out, and then embark upon your session, which you do alone, unguided).

The max dosage amount is 900mg orally. This equates to about 30mg via IM (intramuscular shot) or IV (a very, very low dose). Most people only learn this after they've paid $600 or more for the Foundation plan. You need to reach the state of ego loss to even begin to try and rewire the paths that help with PTSD. In general, this would be about 90-120mg or more, depending on your mental health diagnosis(or diagnoses), and your personal preference for the delivery of ketamine.

When it comes to Innerwell as a company, I've heard of insane stress, frustration, misinformation, opacity around payments and additional plans required, an inability to reach the psychiatric clinician (aka the person prescribing the ketamine), and much, much more.

When current patients point out that certain serious issues and cases can and should be escalated to a supervisor, they are again met with corporate jargon about how that is impossible. Anyone who has ever worked in the business world knows this is absolute BS.

Lisa Kennedy is the CEO. Lawrence Tucker is the Executive Medical Director. Both are on LinkedIn.

There is no phone number for patients to use. In other words, current patients can only submit messages via the portal, and no one responds on weekends, which is a HIPAA violation.

Another violation? Not being able to contact your psychiatric clinician (the NP prescribing your ketamine doses) directly except via the patient portal. It appears that most, if not all of these psychiatric clinicians (PCs) are contracted via some third party and most are based in Africa/Asia, as the only available time slots were from 6PM EST on.

TLDR; Beware of Innerwell. Get KAP done in person, via IM or IV in person through a licensed provider. Oral ketamine is simply not effective enough for people who have real, severe, medication-resistant mental health disorders.
