It's been over half a year since I lost my dad to kratom.

My dad was a disabled veteran for my entire life. He was unable to work and lived with constant pain, yet he remained the most resilient man I’ve ever known. He was prescribed trazodone and gabapentin, and he also regularly took over-the-counter cough medicine—all central nervous system depressants.

I had always sensed that when my dad passed, it would be sudden—and it was. The toxicology report listed his cause of death as an accidental overdose. While he had his prescribed medications in his system, kratom was the only substance outside his normal regimen. The combination of kratom with gabapentin and trazodone proved fatal.

Before his death, I had never heard of kratom. Since then, I’ve researched it and been alarmed by how much content targets veterans and active service members, promoting it as a safe, natural cure-all for pain and other issues—often with little or no warning about drug interactions. Given the content my dad consumed, it’s very likely he encountered similar promotions.

I’m not against responsible, informed use of kratom for those who choose it. But please understand the real risks—especially when mixing it with other substances like opioids, benzodiazepines, gabapentinoids, or other depressants. Talk to your doctor, research potential interactions thoroughly, and take every precaution to stay safe.

Today I took a drug test. This is a warning to everyone.

Today I took a drug test and it came back positive for benzodiazepines and PCP. There is no possible source for this whatsoever except MGM 15 tablets that I recently took from my local smoke shop. There is no possible other explanation whatsoever. I have not used marijuana so I could not have gotten laced marijuana. I do not use PCP or any things that azine whatsoever at all. I have not been anywhere where I could’ve been contaminated or exposed to either of these substances, there is literally only one option it had to have been the tablets I use MGM 15 from time to time I am not a daily user but I do have a significant tolerance so when I use, I usually use all four pills within the span of about three hours. Imagine somebody that’s not like me and doesn’t have a general tolerance to some street drugs they could OD die easily. If it interacts with medication that they are on and caused serious complications this is an insane risk. I cannot believe that the company is making by selling tabs like these that are contaminated with such drugs and is insane but this just goes to show what no regulation breeds it breeds disgusting terrible practices like this. If you haven’t already quit, please consider quitting, and please spread the word repost this and share as much as possible. This is something that people need to be aware of. I am officially quitting as of right now myself. Tomorrow will be hard, but it will be the hardest it ever will be. I will be better than this.

Edit

The brand is Hyr♎️xi MIT, it doesn’t say o but I know they used to say it was made with MGM, also I know the tablets recently must have a new formula. Less sticky and chalky, s bit more on the hard side. So if this is something they are adding on purposes it’s everywhere. And people are in danger.

ALSO PLEASE list any subreddits that are related to this topic so I can spread the word to as many people as possible!

Kratom with Gabapentin

I was hoping to hear some feedback and experiences with doing both kratom and gabapentin.

A little background information... I just started gabapentin for my sciatica and anxiety. I have used kratom for 3 years now, the last 2 years I've used it regularly because that's when I injured myself and got sciatica. I found that kratom significantly helped with my sciatica and anxiety along with a few other things. The dosing I have used is 3 gpd typically 1 to 3 times a day, though its usually 2 times per day on average. I did increase it to 4 times a day after my 16 year old dog passed away, but went back down to 1 to 3 times a day after a few months and had no problem doing so.

My anxiety has been really bad lately so I decided to get rediagnosed for anxiety and was prescribed gabapentin 100 mg 3 times a day. It basically does what the kratom was doing for me, but it helps with my anxiety more, although in a different way. The gabapentin helps me feel less anxious in general but the kratom makes me mentally feel more at peace. I wasn't necessarily trying to quit kratom because I'm not really taking a high dose. I was actually hoping I would be able to enjoy more of the effects of kratom instead of only using it as a crutch. However I've read that mixing the two can be bad.

I was also diagnosed with ADHD and I've noticed that since not using kratom (1 week in) a lot of the ADHD symptoms are worse. I didn't realize it was helping me so much with that but now daily tasks are more difficult for me to focus on. I won't be starting medication for that for at least 2 weeks. I never realized that kratom could help with something like that.

I'd like to mention that I haven't really had any withdrawals even though I quit cold turkey. Most of what I'm feeling is the typical side effects of starting the medication. However, a week in and im finding my body temperature hard to regulate. This started on day 6. From what I've read, I should be over the worst of withdrawals, if I was going to experience any, so I don't know if this is typical. I would like to mention one of the reasons I liked kratom is because it helped me keep warm. I've always had issues with being cold since I was a child. Now, I can't seem to be comfortable unless its 74 degrees in my home which doesn't work for my husband who needs it to be 67 degrees.

I'm hoping to hear some other people's experience with these 2 drugs. I've read a few comments on other posts but there's not much out there for this mix.

Looking to hear from people who have had positive experiences with kratom

I'm working on a documentary about kratom and am hoping to connect with people who have had positive experiences with it. I'd love to better understand your perspective and why you support kratom.

If you're open to sharing your experience, please reply to this comment or send me a DM. I'd really appreciate the opportunity to hear your story. Thanks!

First time dose

I had my first dose last night which I think was a pretty high dose. I was told they were the red ones. Kratom in capsules. Is it normal to trip off 5 of these capsules or just a lot of kratom in general. I do have hppd which could have to do with it. But lmk if anyone else has ever tripped from kratom.
