What is open/not open? Here you go.

Katie (the wonderful manager of our visitor center) just dropped off a notice at my museum regarding closures and reopenings as of 7/23. Thought it could help locals and visitors alike since there have been some questions about the subject.

Baby Doe / Molly Brown opening?

Hi all

I keep looking on rec.gov and it hasn’t been updated since the 15th but it states there was going to be an update on the 21st. Does anyone know if it will re-open / is open ?

Reality Check- Solo Female Trek

I’ve been to Leadville several times with groups and have hiked up to Lily Lake and an alpine lake whose name has left me at the moment…
I’m wanting to go back but I’m an empty nester among friends who aren’t, I work at a school so summer break is closing in, so I think I’m just saying “screw it” and going alone.
Realistically, am I safe to camp alone up there? I won’t be doing the ambitious backcountry hikes that I’ve done with friends (for all the practical reasons that I don’t think anyone should do alone, especially bushwhacking), but I desperately need to get back to the place that feels most real to me and has always refilled my cup.
Any advice? Guidance? Ty in advance

Air quality currently?

Hello, good people! I’m hoping to take my pup tomorrow to a favorite camp spot of mine up 82, past twin lakes a ways. Is the fire/smoke in the area bad enough to try somewhere else or should we be alright?

Best lake spot for dogs?

Hello! I am heading to snowmass area in ~2 weeks and wanted to take my dog to a nice lake to swim. Turquoise lake and Twin lakes came up as two good spots in my brief search.

Are these recommended? In regards to Turquoise lake, it seems quite large so is there a specific road or pull off spot that is ideal for dogs to swim (and maybe room for me to put down a chair and watch her etc)? That would be helpful instead of me driving around clueless looking for a good spot haha

Thanks for any help!

Bears!

Hi all, I’m looking for some scuttlebutt on where a guy might be able to find some black bears this time of year. I’m visiting from Ohio and have never seen a black bear, hoping I can take some pics from a comfortable distance. Any tips or locations are appreciated!!
