First keyboard purchase, ever.

Never had my own computer growing up and have always just used the keyboard on my laptops since college. I did have a keyboard here at the setup for a few years, but it was my daughter’s DustSilver D84 that she used strictly for gaming.

I couldn’t be happier to say that finally, at 40, I have a keyboard of my own.

Apprehension with Upgrading from Flow to Flow 2

My original Flow just died after about 1.5 years and I’m super bummed. It’s the best keyboard I’ve owned and I tried everything (including teardown and troubleshooting) and it just couldn’t be saved.

My next instinct was to upgrade to the Flow 2 but I’ve read about the issues on here, and the reviews on Amazon are quite mixed.

Has anyone here had a good or bad experience with the Flow 2 they could share? Thanks!

Lofree Hypace Ghost: If a BMW i8 was a mouse...

I'll start by saying I love/am conflicted with this mouse. The companys philosophy of this mouse was to build a mouse like a Porsche 911, but I feel like it's more like a BMW i8, a stunning car but also quite experimental for BMW and a bit of a halo model. It's not as perfectly buttoned up as the 911, but it has its quirks that makes it special.

Disclaimer: My findings are done in comparison to a Razer Deathadder V3 Pro as the ''standard''.

Sensor & Switches: The specsheet is LEGIT.

The Lofree Hypace Ghost and only the Ghost uses optical micro switches. The Deathadder V3 Pro has quite a hollow clicking noise whilst the Ghost is a lot crispier and light sounding. It feels quite satisfying to click and is pretty phenomenal imo.

It utilizes the PAW3950, a flagship sensor and it is great. There is support for dual 8k lolling rate, and DPI from 100-40000. I was scared of buying a Lofree mouse as this was a first gen mouse for gaming but they went straight to make a flagship and I think that was the right decision for a compamy like theirs which is built so much on a special design philosophy.

Design: Absolutely stunning IMO

The design of the Lofree Hypace brings a lot ot soul into a product category that is usually filled with a lot of miscellaneous blobs. It differs itself from the hexagonal cutouts with its built on frame design. The Ghost imo looks uite nice and hides the logo better than the Crayon Grey, but not as well as the Jet Black.

Build:

This mouse's frame is made of magnesium allotc with a PC Shell attached via screws. Build is solid all around, it is at its norm for the price point. At least for the unit I got of the Ghost, there is no creaking of panels showing the durability of its PC shell on a magnesium alloy frame. I was worried when I bought it, but it is very strong and the shell quality is great. The side buttoms are nice and clicky amd can be identified via difference in sound. They can be clicked many different ways, not just inwards, but also up as it protrudes. The scroll wheel seems to be one of Lofree's own design, makes a less high pitched frequency compared to my DAV3P. It is however narrower but build feels good. Overall, no complaints.

The wireless dongle is absolutely stunning. It's very solid, fits the design philosophy of the Ghost, has RGB built in configurable through the web based software and it's build is class.

Fit:

I have medium sized male hands and they fit me fine. Compared to my Deathadder V3 Pro, the shape of the mouse is more egg like, narrower at the front and back. The top PC shell is narrower but still fits fine. The hump on the back is less noticeable and gives less support compared to the Deathadder V3 Pro, more comparable height to the Viper series. Favorite will depend on what type of grip you use, palm, claw, fingertip and personal hand size and preference.

Feel:

The weight of this mouse is 49 grams with mice skates installed, this is quite impressive and puts it in line with the Viper V4 Pro, certainly light but not the lightest.

The coating/grip of the mouse is what I'd call uninspiring, it feels fine for me, but I have not used as much gaming mice nor play as much high pressure games so my take here is limited. (currently own Dav3 Pro, Keychron M7).

Compared to my Deathadder V3 Pro, I prefer the V3 Pro. Compared to other mice lower than it's price, it is not up to mark and is something Lofree should invest more time into for the next generation.

The mouse skates are not good, Lofree has this odd pattern on the bottom and you have to put them on yourself. Compared to my Deathadder, the difference is quite big and it feels considerably cheaper. Once again, something Lofree needs to work on.

The scroll wheel is quite narrow compared to my DAV3 Pro but still feels very nice to use for my specific set of hands.

Software:

The software is provided as one of the high points in this mouse, it is web based and very very aesthetic looking. I did find it kinda wonky to start using it on MacOS but it works nicely now. This software allows for changing of right click, wheel click on MacOS. The dongle has RGB builtt in which looks premium and has a a lot of settings to customize the RGB to your liking, with brightness and speed sliders. It shows the battery percentage although thats also visible when paired with Bluetooth. You can also customize profiles, sleep time, LOD(0.7mm, 1mm, 2mm), DPI in 5 stages with button click, polling rate, debounce time. It has ripple control, angle snap, motion sync, long distance mode and more settinfs I haven't touched.

Other things:

One of the best things is Tri Mode connectivity compared to Deathadder, there is Bluetooth at 1000hz polling, 2.4ghz and wired USB-C. Lofree claims Bluetooth at 1000hz polling rate lasts up to 100hrs and battery life has been great. Lofree claims that with 2.4Ghz, the mouse lasts up to 80hrs. There is a blue light inside the mouse to signify modes like bluetooth and the light flashes when pairing.

There are 2x mouse feet in the box, a user guide, a very premium braided cable, the wireless dongle and the mouse. The unboxing experience is incredible, and tops Razer and Keychron.

Conclusion: This mouse is NOT a Porsche 911 like Lofree stated, it's less refined/business, more showy but has a quirky factor that the 911 just doesn't have. I applaud Lofree for trying something new, appealing to a different target market, more for people who are inspired by creativity in design. It was inspired by a bicycle helmet, then Lofree had to craft it into a great gaming mouse, rather than having a previously great gaming mouse and then adding on. It's a tiny rebellion against whats the norm and for that, I appreciate it for what it is.

Hyzen keys sticking

Is anyone else having trouble with double-pressed keys? The "L" and "D" keys are double-pressing whenever I type. This sentence is edited, but if I type quickly:

It starts to llook llike this which is not great if you are trying to use the device for work.

You can see the double-pressed "L" above, the D is more inconsistent.

I've reached out to Hyzen via email a week ago, no response. Would prefer to fix it myself, but kind of a shame for a fairly expensive keyboard that is brand new.

Update: 8/13

I unplugged the switch, blew on it a bit (like a Nintendo cartridge back in the day) and plugged them back in and it seems to have fixed the double-press issue. Hopefully that helps some people with similar issues.

FLOW 2 Via App stopped working

Hi guys, I use my FLOW 2 since almost 9 Months.
I was always able to configure it via the use via Website.

I loaded my Definition File and got it to work fine.

But recently the Website just spits out Errors when I try to use it.
And I can't get it to work.

Someone else with the same Issues?

Also I have seen that the Keyboard uses different PIDs when I connect it via 2.4 GHz Dongle and via USB Cable. So Via want to have different Config Files for each way of connecting it. But the ISO German FLOW2 100 has just one Definition File.

Terrible experience with their recent dispatches of keyboards when it comes to the switches.

This must be addressed. Their most recent batches of keyboards have had faulty switches on a number of keys, causing "sticky" and "double click" feeling when pressed.

Their customer support is terrible and they're not responding to my emails on this. As a customer who bought both the Hypace mouse and the Block keyboard, I will never buy from Lofree again because when they end up sending something damaged, or in this case, a whole batch of damaged products, they do not respond.

Custom Franken-Set on my Lofree Hyzen (NicePBT Cyrillic + YMDK Mars Green)

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share my latest setup and a quick modding story.

Specs:

  • Keyboard: Lofree Hyzen
  • Alpha Keys: NicePBT Cyrillic Sublegend Classic Beige from CannonKeys ($65)
  • Modifiers: YMDK 143 Keys Mars Green Cherry Profile PBT ($23.99)

The Build Story: I initially bought the YMDK Mars Green set for the aesthetics, but a few of the alpha keys started binding/sticking on the switches due to minor tolerance issues.

Instead of scrapping the setup, I ordered the NicePBT Cyrillic set from CannonKeys and mashed them together. The beige alphas with green sub-legends from NicePBT blended seamlessly with the YMDK green modifiers!

The 1.5mm PBT from CannonKeys solved the binding issue completely, and the mix gives the board a unique retro-industrial vibe while sounding deep and thocky.

Thoughts on the combo?

Hyzen Keyboard Mode Setting?

Can someone explain what exactly the Mode Settings in the Lofree HUB do for the Hyzen keyboard? I can select the different options shown below, but I don’t notice any difference when switching between them. What does each mode actually change?

Lofree Hyzen with ceramic keycaps

The Lofree Hyzen's already a sexy beast, but with these black glossy ceramic keycaps, it's pure keyboard porn. Sure, you miss the shine-through of the original caps, but with these, it looks like a $1,000 board. And then I haven't mentioned the sound yet - I mean the stock Hyzen sounds very nice already - but with these it's peak thocky. The printing on the palmrest throws it slightly off, though.

For those interested, these are the TacType Glossy Black Side-printed ceramic keycaps. They don't break the bank either!

Has anyone received their Hyzen in Canada?

Still have radio silence for mine. I unsubscribed from the emails from kickstarter because they spammed so many. But I emailed lofree support 2-3 weeks ago and they said my order is good and they’d email me when it has shipped. Still nothing. Just wondering if anyone else has gotten theirs yet in Canada? Or some information possibly when it may be shipped?

Hyzen no longer works after firmware update.

No keys register no lights turn on nothing even though I hear a ding from windows when it's connected it's not functional.

Basically I loaded the website configurator did the update turned on wireless more and removed the cable after that it no longer functions with the cable or without it. Is there anything I could use to recover this?

Edit: if anyone else has this happen use the tool linked below it fixed it for me and I was able to update again normally after.

Hyzen67 key stuck

Morning.

My Hyzen67 arrived today. Updated FW and switched to mechanical. The keylogger recognises that the P key is being constantly pressed.

It does not recognize this in mechanical.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
