After weeks of researching, I finally chose my diamond ✹

I spent way too much time comparing diamonds online before finally making a decision 😅

I looked at a few different retailers, read a ton of Reddit threads, watched comparison videos, and honestly got overwhelmed trying to balance quality, pricing, and trust.

What I mainly wanted was:

  • something that looked beautiful in natural lighting
  • strong specs without paying crazy markup
  • clear certification/photos/videos before buying
  • and a process that didn’t feel pushy

I eventually decided to go with Loose Grown Diamond after comparing prices and stone videos for a while, and this is the diamond I received. The sparkle in person honestly surprised me compared to what I expected from online videos.

The process overall was smoother than I expected. I was nervous ordering something this expensive online, but communication was good and I appreciated being able to compare multiple stones before choosing one.

Posting a quick video here because Reddit reviews helped me a lot during my search, so hopefully this helps someone else too.

Curious what everyone thinks of the stone/video quality 👀

Purchased a lab diamond from loosegrowndiamond.com

Hi everyone. I was a bit nervous ordering a diamond online, but my experience was great! The folks at LGD were warm and patient with all of my questions, and I never felt pressured or rushed at any point.

I was very surprised at how fast everything went. The diamond shipped out extremely quickly, and it only took five days from when I ordered it to when it was delivered to Germany. Thats impressive because I expected the process to take much longer.

They also price matched, which made the whole purchase feel even better value-wise. On top of that, everything felt professional from start to finish, from communication to the final delivery.

The most important thing is that I’m genuinely happy with the diamond itself. The stone looks beautiful, matches what I was hoping for, and overall the entire buying experience was smooth and reassuring. I’d absolutely consider buying from them again.

Finally made a decision

I was deciding between 2 diamonds, one my husband bought and one I ordered from loose grown diamond. I took both to a jeweler and compared them but the loose grown diamond took the cake! This was my first time ordering a law grown and I was a little nervous to order online but my experience was seamless. Ordered my diamond received a follow up email right after updating me on the progress of my order. Once it arrive I took it out of the package and it was so pretty and sparkly! I took it to a jeweler and they steamed it for me and wow! It looks amazing. I received follow up emails and calls about my experience just making sure I was happy with the diamond I received which was really reassuring because I didn’t want to feel ghosted after such a big purchase!

Could not be happier with my experience

Posting this because Reddit is genuinely where my search started, so hopefully it helps someone else.

I took my girlfriend to a brick and mortar jewelry store just to see what styles she liked — didn't buy anything, just used it as a vibe check. Then I went down the rabbit hole. Lab vs real diamonds, cuts, clarity, carat weight, the whole thing. If you're reading this you probably know exactly what that's like.

Once I had a rough idea of what I wanted, the next headache was figuring out where to actually buy it. I knew online was the move — the price difference compared to in-store is just ridiculous — but I had no idea which online retailers were legit. Started with whatever Instagram and Facebook were pushing at me, found a few more suggestions here on Reddit, and honestly the prices and styles across all of them were pretty similar.

Then I kept seeing Loose Grown Diamonds mentioned. Went to their site and the prices threw me off at first — significantly cheaper than everywhere else I'd looked. The website felt a little dated too, which didn't help my skepticism. But the stones are all GIA or IGI certified, and enough people on here had vouched for them that I reached out with some questions before committing to anything.

Their customer service was really easy to deal with. I ended up ordering a 3.53ct, 10.4x7.25x5 radiant. The stone was large enough that they actually recommended going with a thicker band, which came with a small upcharge, but they sent a CAD design photo with the email so I could see exactly why. I was skeptical about that too so I did my own research — turns out the recommendation was spot on.

From start to finish I got 33 emails from them. Right before shipping they sent a short custom video of the finished ring with my name and the specs. Didn't expect that at all.

My fiancée is completely in love with it. The whole process was way less stressful and cheaper than I thought it would be. If I ever need another ring, LGD is the first place I'm going.

Hope this helps someone in the same position I was in — and congrats to anyone else who just got engaged! 🎉

tl;dr
I did my homework, took me a while. ended up learning about loose grown diamonds and buying the ring with them. my now fiancé couldn't be happier. good luck!

Surprise Gift for my Wife

TLDR: Lab grown diamonds are a win all around, I’m impressed with my purchase and will absolutely buy more! If you’re on the fence, I say go for it!

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a really good experience I had once I decided to go lab grown as a special gift for my wife. First, some background: we are expecting a son in October, our first child, and we were beginning to wonder if we were going to be blessed with a child. Since we are, I thought that I should do something really special as a surprise for my wife, who is also my absolute best friend. After fishing a little bit in light conversation over the weeks, I discovered that she does not want to upsize her engagement ring stone and wanted a necklace. That is all well and good, except any stone that would make a sizeable pendant would be well outside of anything I could reasonably afford. I started to lose hope that I could do this, until a friend at work recommended that I look for lab grown stones.

I never thought that I would buy a lab created diamond, and I probably wouldn’t have investigated or considered lab diamonds if it hadn’t been for my buddy at work. He bought one for his fiancĂ© on a black Friday sale last year (2025), told me he had a really positive experience, and encouraged me to look around and find one. He did recommend the company he used, but I don’t take recommendations lightly. I shopped around at nearly every site that offers lab grown diamonds, including some retail jewelers both local and nationwide. I actually bought my wife’s ring from one of those chains where ‘you have a friend in the jewelry business’ (iykyk 😉) and they offer lab grown diamonds, so they were the first place I looked. After checking maybe 8-10 sites, I finally settled on a size, a couple of shapes, and a color of stone, and began comparing apples to apples across my top 4 contender sites based on reviews from Reddit, BBB and TrustPilot.

By far and away, the best price I found on a larger stone like I wanted was at Loose Grown Diamond. I found a 5.11 CTW oval diamond, E color, VVS2 clarity, ideal cut oval diamond that is approx. 10mm x 14mm, and I rolled the dice. Or at least I thought I did; this stone is a SLAM DUNK!! I am beyond thrilled with the stone and I think she will absolutely love it!

I started looking at their settings and I also emailed a local jeweler so that I would have options. I am doing this whole project in secret, as it’s a surprise birth present for my beautiful wife. That’s normally not hard to do, but we both work from home and our offices share a wall
so I had to use only email to get quotes. The sales/chat staff at Loose Grown Diamond was very quick to answer my questions, and get me quotes on settings, etc. I unfortunately wound up being the difficult customer who hems and haws and can’t make up his mind, and they never seemed bothered and were always prompt to respond and polite (cordial, even!) when responding to me.

I got a quote from a local place and LGD, and compared them. I decided that I would use the local place for 2 reasons: one, to support local since I’m in KY and LGD is in NY and the prices were basically the same, and two, to ‘spread out the spend’ so to speak so I could order a large stone now on sale and then have it set in a month or two when I can save up a bit. Sounds simple, but it turned into a back and forth between the two companies and I changed my mind almost twice a day for four days on who I would go with. What else do you expect from email only correspondence tied to a large surprise purchase, am I right?

The local place quoted me something that doubled when I sent in a design I liked, so I panicked and last minute emailed LGD to get a quote while my stone was being processed for shipment. LGD responded super fast and said they understood the urgency and would be happy to hold my stone until I made a decision and got a design finalized. I pushed back on the local jeweler and they came back with something that was about $200 more than LGD, which is better than double. Even after all that, AND deciding to go with my local jeweler, LGD was still super cordial and happy to help, regardless of whether or not I wound up using them. The diamond is brilliant, the service was incredible, and I will absolutely be a repeat customer. If you’re looking for a lab grown stone, be it a clear or colored diamond, I side with my coworker and highly recommend Loose Grown Diamond.

As for the surprise gift, once I get it set in 14k gold I’ll post an update so y’all can see it in all it’s glory! It’s funny, internet strangers will get to see the pendant before my wife does! I hope this helps encourage someone who is looking for a nice stone at not house payment money to check out lab grown stones. I know that I’m a fan and will absolutely be shopping for more in the future to upgrade the Mrs’ sparkle factor.

not even gonna lie
buying this ring felt diff from the start.

went in just “looking” but then saw this 5ct from loose grown diamond and yeah
game over đŸ˜źâ€đŸ”„ the sparkle hit first, but what really got me was knowing it’s a smarter, conscious choice too 💎

Being able to choose the stone first made it feel personal fr
like I wasn’t just buying a ring, I was building my ring. picked the perfect size (7), kept the setting clean so the diamond does all the talking — no extra, just pure shine.

The whole process felt easy, no pressure vibes, just excitement. every step felt like “yeah this is it” đŸ«¶

And when I finally saw it set?? omg
 unreal. that shine, that presence
it literally felt like a moment, not just a purchase

def not just jewelry
 this one means something.
