Photography with S5ii

Hi, I shoot video with the s5ii for work but recently they want photos too. I've just been using the automatic option for photos but the results can be mixed.

Can anyone recommend any tutorials or resources that can teach me how to get better photos from this particular camera.

Thanks!

7aritsans Lens

So this is probably a silly question, but I got this 18mm lens to use with my FP and S5iix. I noticed that the rear element protrudes very slightly from the lens mount. Is there any risk of damaging the sensors with something like this?

Search more than 400+ lenses for the Leica M and L mount

In case you haven't come across it yet, over the past few years I have been curating LEICAmount.com (no official endorsement by Leica Camera AG), a searchable database of Leica M Mount, L Mount and S Mount lenses in production.

The crown jewel of this database is the list of 220+ Leica L mount and 180+ Leica M mount lenses from various manufacturers, that can be searched and filtered by specifications; such as mount type, focal length or aperture.

I've been using the database myself for looking up lenses for my Leica M2, so I am confident that you can make it your regular place for comparing and selecting lenses.

The next integration for this Autumn will be adding LTM lenses currently in production. But feel free to drop me a line if you spot any error, or see any lens in production missing from this database.

PSA - Repair solutions from Panasonic on Flagship Lenses

Quick PSA. If you currently own this Panasonic Flag ship lens (S PRO 70-200mm f/2.8) and need Panasonic to repair it. You may get dissappointed.

What happened:
Lens was accidentally drop by a 3-4 feet height. This caused some 10-15% misalignment (making it 20% less sharp in video & photos). Nothing broke, nothing shattered. Just needed a recalibration.

Solution from Panasonic:
"Sorry, we can't fix that, we don't have any replacements and no solutions for you. .....Bye!"

The Warranty:
It's still under 3 year extended warranty, but that did not help at all.

Be Warned:
I was willing to buy a discounted or pay for a replacement even if they denied my warranty. But it seems these lenses are not readily available or repairable. Take good care of yours if you have it.

My Solution:
I either use it as is and deal with the reduction in image quality for family events instead of professional use or sell it on ebay and buy a Sigma instead.
