some questions about sehs
I’ve always thought of myself as a pretty good student, and I was even offered an interview for BMG a few days ago. But the SEHS exam is only 6 weeks away, and I honestly don’t feel like I’ve studied enough or pushed myself as hard as I should have. I don’t really know why either.
On weekends, I spend almost 4 hours a day playing video games, and even when I sit down to study, I usually end up scrolling TikTok. I’ll force myself to do about 5 questions, then take another 15-minute break, which means that in a 2-hour study session, I probably only do around 30 minutes of actual work. So how can i like prevent this issue?
So far, my preparation has mainly been EduKingdom tuition where i get around 60-80% on the tests and OzTests practice papers. I’ve completed more than 10 practice tests, and my scores usually range from around 50–70 depending on the subject. Are OzTests designed to be harder and push your limits, or do these scores realistically mean I have a low chance of getting in?
I also have a few questions:
- How much would I realistically need to study each day from now on if I genuinely want a good chance of getting into SEHS, looking at these scores?
- Since I attend BMG, would it be significantly harder for me to get into a selective school compared to students from other schools?
- Is 5 weeks enough time to improve meaningfully if I become more consistent now?
My parents probably wouldn’t be extremely upset if I didn’t get in, but getting into selective would still mean a lot to me. It could open more opportunities for my future and possibly reduce some of the financial pressure on my parents for my education.
