Guest stars

Rewatching the series and I'm just amazed at the impressive guest cast in every episode. It's really like a "who's who" of stars of the time period and future stars.

And of course, there's Angela herself -- nominated for an Emmy every year all 12 years it was a series!

"Funeral At Fifty Mile" -- it's so weird seeing William Windom (Seth) as a murderer in this early episode!

Jeff Conaway in the episode "Birds Of A Feather", playing a guy who used to be an actor/taxicab driver. Now where have I heard that before? Oh yes...

I love how Murder, She Wrote is able to pull off so many formats!

Murder, She Wrote is a mystery series first and foremost. But more than that, it's able to pull off many different genres and do them successfully!

In episodes such as "If It's Thursday, It Must Be Beverly", there are heavy doses of comedy thrown in. Angela Lansbury's considerable acting talents also aid with that. In other episodes, the show feels like a straight-up horror series (I will be talking more about that later).

Finally, considering that the show visits so many different locales and boasts a different and impressive guest cast for every episode, the show has a true anthology series feel to it.

Murder, She Wrote is that rare program that can tackle just about any format and pull it off seamlessly!

Episodic Review -- Snow White, Blood Red

This has got to be the most intense episode of MSW ever. 3 murderers and several more attempted, including Jess herself. The whole shower scene comes out of nowhere and is something straight out of Hitchcock's "Psycho". Give Emma Samms the award for most blood-curdling scream ever! The whole things feels like slasher films of the time period like Freddy or Jason.

And yet, despite that, the episode has a certain amount of charm to it. The scenery is really breathtaking.

This episode is like many MSW episodes in that Jessica spends most of the hour barking up the wrong trees, only to realize the killer(s) were right under her nose the entire time. In this case "Ed McMasters" and his wife, who is sporting the Cruella Deville hairstyle. Ed never seemed bothered by the dead bodies, even joking about Gunner's death and all of these were probably dead giveaways (pun not intended) they were the ones involved. Jessica even actually foreshadows the ending earlier in the ep when she's talking to Ed in the hallway: "Suppose you were the killer...."

Also, if you enjoy eye candy, there's no shortage of it in this episode.

This episode has you on the edge of your seat the entire time and never lets up. A standout from the series!
