It’s so hard I have medical for NYPD and NYS corrections in progress

It’s been 4 months since I have not hear anything back for academy 😔 I understand no news is good news. The state is very short on officers and officers leave everyday ( retire , quit etc ) hopefully we get called for June academy. What are the odds ? Did my medical January ( received notice that I am suitable ) did psych and 1 on 1 with dr.M …… anybody have an update to their process that processed in January ? 🙏🏽

COmpleted all steps in NYSDOCCS and now waiting for the evaluation to be completed from the Psych they appointed to me.
in this desperate time that NYSDOCCS are needing officers how long would be a yes or no to the academy ?

I recently had a great interview for an IT Specialist role with NYS ITS. However, I have a recent DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired) traffic infraction on my record, which was the result of a plea bargain. It is classified as a traffic infraction, not a misdemeanor or a felony. I fully disclosed and explained the situation on my New York State Police background check paperwork. Given that an IT Specialist role does not involve driving duties, what are the chances of this impacting the hiring decision? I’m really frustrated and anxious about this right now, has anyone experienced a similar situation, or does anyone from HR here have insight into how these infractions are typically handled?"

What prisons in region 6 is someone likely to get hired at? Does anyone work at any of these prisons? Any information would be great, thanks!

is there only 1 training location upstate? I know you’re able to leave on weekends but if you don’t want to can you stay in the “dorm”?… I’m supposed to be going in June and I don’t drive so I’m trying to figure something out before hand, even if I have to take Amtrak and cab it or something

What about mandated OT?

Good evening, i have my medical and interview at cohoes tomorrow. So i know they say to come in gym clothes first and then change later into your business clothes. My question is do they give you a place to change? Also do i bring my other clothes in a bag, backpack or should i just bring it in by hand like on a hook? Thank you for your input.

Who else is going to The Academy May17th ??

What takes place during the medical/interview portion of the hiring process. I was told that it goes from 0700-1400. What do you have to do during that time?

how long does it take to get your first check in the academy? I saw that it can be a month but also can be a check of 3/8 days is that true?

So i have my med and interview tomorrow at 6 in the morning on Monday for NYS Corrections. However i don’t have all the required documents as recently I’ve moved and I’ve seen to have lost them in transit, that being my birth certificate and my high school diploma. I have a photo of my SS though and I have my drivers license. What should I do?

I got fired when i was 20 for saying something that was considered offensive to gays. It wasn't extremely offensive but it was enough to get me fired. (And no I won't repeat it). Will that disqualify me? Should i admit to it?|

I’ve had many contacted security jobs in my past before I settled in with the mta will this be looked at as bad employment history cause I didn’t say with many of them longer terms cause I was pursuing a career and not just a job.
